Another week has passed, and it is time for a new set of community events for you all to enjoy. There are few events out there this week, but I plucked the best I could find to show you today. We have two PvP events for you as well as a strictly RP cantina crawl that will become a weekly event starting next week. Of the two PvP events, one is a World PvP event, as well as an RP-PvP event for those interested, and another is a PvP contest with millions of credits up for grabs. As usual, there will be a poll, but this week there will be a very particular question, so let us dive into it shall we? If you have any suggestions for events or guilds that you would like to see covered, send me a message here with the name and the contact information.
Events
Battle for the Bridge: Hoth World PvP Event
Jung Ma
Esoteric Order is running their first World PvP event at 8:00pm EST on Monday November 5 on the frozen ice ball that is Hoth. The exact location changed to find a spot more neutral for resurrections, so stay tuned to the page on the official forums for the final decision, but currently it is set up in the Whiterock Wastes on the Crescent Canyon Bridge. This is a World PvP event, but Roleplay is welcomed if that is how you prefer to PvP.
Factions have their own objectives. The Imperials will be holding the bridge to stop the Republic forces from crossing. The Republic, meanwhile, will try to clear the bridge of Imperial Forces and hold it for themselves; a grand King-of-the-Hill style fight. It even has its own death rules; get a battle resurrection or wait for the battle to end and resurrect either on the spot or at the medical station. The fight is determined by strategy, not just brute force. According to the organizer, the battle will end when “the last two PvPers get bored and leave,” which should make this event fairly interesting, and long. Visit the page mentioned above to get the latest information on the possible new location, and good luck to both sides on Monday.
Galactic Pub Crawl
The Ebon Hawk
Everyone loves a good pub-crawl! This time-honored tradition is returning at 8:00pm EST with a semi-weekly event on Wednesday nights. This is an event for people to get together, meet, socialize, and just have fun. The organizer has planned the first of these new events to be in the Voss-Ka cantina Wednesday on November 7 to kick it off, continuing every other Wednesday from then on, always in a different cantina from the last. They said they will try to keep the locations as neutral as possible so everyone can join in the fun, but he warns many of the locations may be Republic affiliated, so be careful Imperials. This could be fun, as long as everyone avoids random blaster-fire. Check out the details in the topic for more information.
End of the Month PvP Event
Begeren Colony
Dark Jedi Order is at it again with another PvP tournament, this time the event coordinators will divide five million credits and give them to the winners. They are currently looking for how much interest is out there before making anything certain, but so far, all levels would be welcome to this event. Different level ranges will be divided into their own level brackets. The winners, after receiving their winnings, will be entered into a grand tournament at the end of the month, with ten million credits up for grabs to the winner of that one.
As I said, so far this is all up for debate and discussion; nothing is set in stone currently, not even the date. If you wanted to voice your opinion, or sign up for it, contact Ierzi, A’ces, or Rybes, or post in this topic on the official forums and voice your opinion.
Poll
The results from the last post are somewhat disappointing. It is sad to see over half of you have nothing to get an event going. Those of you who do have events going, or the support, I am definitely happy to hear that. Getting support for an event can be very tricky and difficult if it is just you doing the work. For the one person out there who has an idea but no support, post your idea here and weigh in.
This week, I have a very interesting question. I am thinking of writing a new article about how to organize and run events in games. My question is; do you think such an article would be helpful to you as an individual, to get ideas for events and to get them running? More importantly, do you think such a guide would be helpful to the community at large? Let me know below and in the comments, especially if you have something to add that you think would be helpful in the article.
