Colm: Problem with your droids?

Something I have been thinking about today while sitting at my desk during lunch has to do with droids. How will they be implemented in the game? Can they be named? Will they only be NPCs? I would love to be able to purchase my own droid and give him skills that help me as I quest. I would even like a profession in the game that lets me make droids for other players. As we wait to hear more and more news of the upcoming games what is something you would love to see from the SW galaxy in the game?
