Player VS Player

Let the great debate commence. How do you want to kill the guy standing next to you. Do you want to go out in glorious battle against their home towns, or to gank random people in the wilderness. Perhaps you prefer a more structured battle, such as a round of Battlefront style combat with objectives to take out the badguys. Or are you an arena guy with 1v1 or a small team vs small team.

I wonder if they mean this one?

Think that's the one they mean.

Looking back on why the WoW open world PvP died, I would have ot blame Battlegrounds and Arenas. If it was strictly open world PvP, maybe add in relm type PvP, I think that would be best.

However, I think BioWare is considering Arenas and/or Battlefields; at least that is what it sounds like.

I personally think that Open World PVP should always just be a server side choice. You either choose a PVP server or you don't and that is where the open world option comes in. However, as a general PVP option that would be consistant on all server, Battleground matches are the best option for me. I love the idea that I can jump in whenever and where ever I want and get a nice shot in the arm of goal oriented PVP. I never seem to be able to get my entire group of friends to roll PVP servers so I take what I can get and Battlegrounds are more fun for me then arena.

I really hope the put sieges in as there were in AOC (not the wow wannebe)

I think what they may do is ensure that the framework is there, and then add things like "sieges" at a later stage. I'm sure they have a long list of things that "player's want to see", but let's be fair, they can't put everything in at once! :D

It would be awesome to see it properly implemented if it were ever possible.

Time for my WoW city raid story I guess. This is post Wrath so you can try this if you want.

One time one of my guild members was going for the fishing achievements. Unfortunately for him one achievement required that he catch a rare fish in Ironforge. Once he got there he was corpse camped, leaving it impossible to go fishing. He called everyone in the guild to come help out so we all got our Gnomeregan teleporter things and went to Ironforge as fast as we could.

Upon reaching Ironforge we all sealed off the pond area of the town and prevented massive groups of people from attacking our friendly fisherman. After about 20 min he got his fish and our entire group did a RP walk out of town to really rub our power in their noses.

That has always been the issue with MMOs - balance.

Oh I had a ton of fun in those but I am sure the newbies absolutely abhorred it.

I think any type of PvP like WAR would be great. Part of two zones are connected and you fight over special points and then you might take a keep and be forced to defend it when you have held the zone long enough you move to the next one all the way to the enemy's capital city were if you capture that you can raid, pillage, loot and maybe even kill the king. Its PvP were there is a goal not just to slaughter the guys standing in front of you(Which can be very fun) and the goal is a huge one, but an achievable one.

Thought that was the one thing WAR got right, hoping that returns in the future hopefully in swtor.

I like a mix of my pvp. Even though full on city raids were awesome they took a long time, so I hope they have good battlegrounds or something to that effect.

The city raid that took longest for me was one on Darnassus. There was a group of about 8 of us to kill the leader and it took forever because only about 3 of the people in the group were dps. I was one of the 4 healers. We only survived because nobody cared.

That was about one month before I quit the game forever.

I'm all for Open World PvP. I never played WoW pre-BC but from what I hear, I missed a lot of city raids. After I started playing post-BC city raids were a thing of the past and Arena's and Battlegrounds became the PvP zone of choice. From what I hear, the city raids were the real fun.

In SWG it was all open world PvP with a twist. You didn't have to participate, you could get yourself flagged or just go "Overt." Those were some real fun time, best PvP I ever had until I discovered hunting down unsuspecting Jedi.
