Choosing which class to play is a big decision when starting an MMORPG, but for Star Wars: The Old Republic it goes hand-in-hand with choosing your faction. The classes on both factions are essentially a reflection of one another, but their aesthetic and animation differences can be big determining factors for some players. For other players, it’s about the stories, the lightsaber, and the voices that make the difference. Here are a few reasons why playing the Republic faction might appeal to you.

Contrary to what some players may believe, the Sith Juggernaut is not a tank-only Advanced Class. Those who wish to do damage while still retaining the ability to respec into a tank, or those who simply just don't want to flail around with two lightsabers, can make themselves very much at home with either the Rage or the Vengeance skill tree. We'll be discussing the Vengeance tree today, and some of the skills, tactics and concepts that players may want to consider to get the most out of this offense-minded specialization.

Unlike their sneakier cousins the Operatives, Imperial Snipers eschew up close and personal combat for the flexibility and advantages that a good rifle and long range can offer. Among the ranks of these Snipers are those who work to master their weapon skills, putting aside the gadgetry and poisons they naturally have access to, becoming Marksmen. Ideally situated from a steady perch and without interruption, a specialized Marksman can rain death on his foes with relative impunity.

The Imperial Agent relies on cunning and stealth to serve the Empire in a wide variety of roles. The Operative advanced class focuses on technology and concealment tools and abilities in order to provide healing and unleash damage from close range. Imperial Intelligence is known for quickly and quietly doing their job without being seen, and the Operative is an important piece of this covert organization. The abilities and suggested specs for Operatives in these roles are examined after the jump.
Upon reaching level ten, Imperial Agents will be directed to choose their permanent advanced class. The Sniper advanced class is limited to a damage dealing role and is most effective at long range. Alternatively, the Operative can heal or deal damage and is most effective at short to medium range with several effective melee attacks. This guide takes a look at the Medic specialization of the Operative advanced class.
