"Korriban shall be as it always was. A graveyard for the darkest of the Sith Lords, still whispering within their tombs. It shall always be a source of evil, spawning threats throughout the millennia. It, like Malachor, brushes the edges of the empire that waits in the dark. And like Malachor, the Sith have forgotten it for a time. They will remember." - Darth Traya
The Infinite Empire

Being just another world with a ripe population, the Rakata invaded Korriban in an attempt to assimulate the species into the Infinite Empire, intending to harvest slaves from the planet to be used for their projects, such as the Star Forge (around 30,000 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin)). The only artifact to survive this time was the ancient Star Map, around which the tomb of Naga Sadow was later constructed.
The Rakata were eventually forced off the world , however, after the Sith King Adas led his people against them. He died in the battle, and thus, despite his victory, the Sith civilization dissolved with the Sith relocating to Ziost, leaving Korriban as a graveyard world.
The Hundred-Year Darkness
Korriban would remain unimportant until the Second Great Schism. During the Second Great Schism, certain Jedi had learned that upon using the Force with sufficient intensity, that could bend life itself. However, their fellow Jedi disagreed with their methods saying that such power would lead to abuse and thus exiled them. These Dark Jedi continued to practice their methods and returned to fight the Jedi for dominion. The Fallen Jedi were outnumbered and as a result of infighting combined with the actual Jedi assault, they surrendered. The survivors were banished to the reaches of the known galaxy (about 6,900 BBY).
Many of the survivors from the Great Schism landed on Korriban. These Dark Jedi used their training in the Force to amaze the native Sith population, thus becoming the rulers of the Sith people. As the years passed, and interbreeding occurred between the Fallen Jedi and the Sith, the term "Sith" came to mean not only the original inhabitants of Korriban, but also their fallen Jedi themselves.
The Great Hyperspace War
Over the centuries of isolation, the Dark Jedi exiles were forgotten by the Galactic Republic, while all records of the Republic were lost by the Sith. The Sith's rampant use of dark side magics caused to become Korriban even more desolate and corrupt. They erected huge palaces and burial complexes to honor their fallen Dark Lords. However, around 5,000 BBY, the planet was accidentally discovered by Gav and Jori Daragon. This event caused the Great Hyperspace War.

After the defeat of the Sith Empire, the planet lost much of its prominence in the galaxy, eventually disappearing from star charts for a thousand years.
Before and After the Great Galactic War
Korriban was resettled prior to 3,993 BBY by Dark Jedi survivors of the Exar Kun War, and was home to the new settlement of Dreshdae and a Sith training academy. The planet became the sector headquarters of the Czerka Corporation. Darth Revan and Darth Malak visited the planet on their quest to discover the Star Forge. After losing his memory, Revan visited the academy again in 3,956 BBY on his quest to re-discover the Star Forge for the good of the Republic. With the death of Master Uthar Wynn, the academy's headmaster, and Darth Malak himself at the hands of Revan in 3,956 BBY, the Sith Order collapsed into a civil war (which took place 3,956-3,950 BBY) which decimated the Sith Order.
This civil war decimated the population of Sith, all whom were vying for what little power was left. The survivors eventually fled Korriban to the remote corners of the galaxy. After the fall of Darth Malak, the ancient tombs within the Valley of the Dark Lords were plundered by grave-robbers and the planet was left virtually deserted.
Retaking Korriban was one of the biggest priorities for the Sith Empire, when it re-emerged during the Great Galactic War. They eventually retook the planet and re-established the Sith Academy.

It is following this history that you will emerge as a Sith Warrior. I hope you know understand the war torn history that is prone between the Jedi and the Sith, as well as the destruction it leads to Korriban. May the Force be strong with you, young one.
