Holonet Dissection

Holonet Dissection

Here at Darth Hater we are constantly examining any media released for Star Wars: The Old Republic. The Holonet, in particular, quickly became one of our most valued resources in this endeavor. Framed by the ever important fourth pillar, each new release on the official site slowly increases our knowledge of the people and places we will encounter when players finally get their hands on the game. In light of the recent addition of a biographies section, we thought it might be a good idea to look back over the Holonet and find all the people we have been introduced to over the past year and a half.

Note: This article will be updated over time as we include new items to the dissection.
Classes Section

The classes section contains a bevy of information about the gameplay we will encounter in The Old Republic, however the are a few hidden gems about the people and things we will encounter as players. The Aurbesh scattered throughout the different class pages contain names that will almost certainly come to play for anyone choosing the following classes.

Smuggler "Wanted: By Rogan the butcher"

Consular "Intercept and destroy the Javelin Dreadnaught"

Agent "Protecting the Shadow Arsenal"

Sith Inquisitor "Aspirant to the Dark Council"

Other than the Dark Council, these names are fairly unknown to the community. While it is possible to speculate about what they are or how they will effect each class' unique story, at this time there is not enough information to make a strong conclusion.

Timeline

The timeline represents a large number of the people encountered in the media released by BioWare and LucasArts. As the videos continue to move backwards through time, we are constantly introduced to characters whose actions have shaped the galaxy into what it will be when TOR goes live.

Gnost-Dural

Gnost-Dural
Gnost-Dural is a Historian for the Jedi Order. This Kel Dor is the narrator to each of the timeline videos. Well spoken and to the point, he is a ardent detractor of the Sith and their practices.

Hylo Visz

Hylo Visz
Hylo Visz was a Mirialan smuggler that is known for breaking the blockade. A typical Mirialan, Hylo resembles a Human with yellow skin and markings that appear similar to tatoos. She was rumored to be killed shortly after breaking the blockade for betraying a Hutt.

Mandalore (Deceased)

Mandalore dec.
This Mandalore was a gladiator winner that received the title after a series of fixed fights. Upon his rise to power he rallied the Mandalorians to his side and, through the secret influence of the Empire, they proceeded to fight the Jedi. He was eventually slain and succeeded by a new Mandalore.

Mandalore (Current)

Mandalore current
After slaying the gladiator who united the Mandalorians, a new Mandalore arose. The timeline implies that this second Mandalore will be the current leader of these fierce warriors during The Old Republic. It is not yet known who he is or whether or not he is a puppet for the Empire.

Belth Allusis

Belth Allusis
Belth Allusis was the Jedi Master in charge of Bothawui's defense. He died during the battle and is remembered as a hero for inflicting such damage on the Sith in the battle.

Grand Moff Zellos

Grand Moff Zellos
Zellos was the Grand Moff in charge of the Imperial assault of Bothawui. It is implied that he was still alive after the battle by the Bothawui and could still be a prominent figure in TOR.

Thanks for the information DH and always look forward to your speculations. Im pretty sure SWTOR does too!!!

Guaranteed that players on Bothawui will discover that Jedi Belth Allusis went dark in his battle with the Sith and that is a key component to him inflicting heavy damage on the Sith before he died there. Sounds like a great opportunity for story telling there. Maybe he and his forces started using extreme tactics, etc. etc.

    Nice read.
    I love the 4th pillar. :)

    Great :D

I'm really interested to see how Mandalorians will be worked into this game.

Just to clarify, they are Sith aligned right buuut...

The time line video describes them as "Independent warrior nomads" and have a " rugged sense of honor"

I'm not sure if it's bioware just going the extra mile, but I see them describing this faction/race/culture to the

extent to actually have them play a serious roll for the sith, and not just be a meatlump type mob running around

outside the big cities. What do you guys think? :)

So I am, man. What in the hell is up w/the new Mandalore?
  • #36 RogueJedi86
It's a shame Mandos aren't a third faction. I like the idea of 3 factions and how they check and balance each other in PvP, especially in regards to population imbalance. One faction gets too large, the other 2 smaller factions can gang up on the big guy in PvP. Mandos would've been an easy choice for a third faction. Heck, maybe BioWare will throw a whammer of a reveal before launch and announce just that. :)

Mandalorians are important to the Sith to keep the Republic destabilized and make it harder for them to fight against the Sith.

The time line video describes them as "Independent warrior nomads" and have a " rugged sense of honor"

That right there is the main reason why there alliance with the Sith is not very reliable. Once they find out that they're just puppets to the Sith they will revolt and turn there focus on the Sith.

I'd guess that there will be two Mandalorian factions, loyalists to the current Mandalore, and a secret resistance type group that want to overthrow him.
  • #23 Zoid
To add to what you are saying, it is unknown if the new Mandalore is a puppet for the Empire like the previous one. Could be they are back to being completely independent.
  • #25 chronium
I'm a believer of the Sith killed the old Mandalore to replace him with someone with more military experience and easier to control, theory.
  • #29 Korrick
That is an interesting theory, and it makes a lot of sense I have never thought of that, but im going to bet your right on that one.
  • #24 Kindar
thanks guys, that helped clear things up for me.
  • #16 Snodge
In the image for Lord Angral, it looks like he has some kind of artificial eye and/or eye socket - do you think this may be a character customisation option or something like that?

    Good work.
