Planets

Alderaan

Organa
House Organa is one of the dominant families of Alderaan. This family should sound familiar to Star Wars fans as their descendants will eventually go on to adopt Leia during the period of the Galactic Civil War.

Ulgo
House Ulgo is also mentioned on the page and may sound familiar to anyone who played Knights of the Old Republic. It is believed that this family was nearly wiped out by their rivals, House Organa. Your temporary companion during the KOTOR tutorial was also believed to be a member of this family. Each side is being funded by outside forces for control of Alderaan during TOR.

Thul
House Thul is mentioned in the Alderaan planet Aurebesh. The inclusion of this family is particularly interesting as the only other mention of them comes from after the Galactic Civil War, a period of time rarely mentioned in Star Wars video games. What part they will play in The Old Republic remains to be seen.

Threat of Peace

Jedi Master Dar'nala

Jedi Master Dar'nala
The previous master of Satele Shan, Dar'nala faked her death at hands of Sith, and framed the Sith for bombing of senate building in order to restart the war. She saw the Sith as untrustworthy traitors and believed they deserved extermination. Dar'nala convinced Fortris and Tavus to join her side, along with other Republic soldiers and Jedi, but was thwarted when the Wookiee Dalborra broke her mind control and killed her.

Harron Tavus

Harron Tavus
Tavus is a lieutenant in the Republic Special Forces. He accompanied Orgis Din on Balmorra, and was with the Jedi during the sacking of Coruscant. He later went with Master Din to Balmorra in order to confront Fortris for breaking the treaty. On the way, he recovered Satele Shan's escape pod. A relationship with Shan appears to develop over the course of the comic, but the details are not specific. He temporarily joined Dar'nala on her quest to restart the war, but stopped after he was convinced by Satele to spare Angral.

Jedi Master Orgis Din

Jedi Master Orgis Din
During the sacking of Coruscant, Master Din was defeated by Lord Angral, barely escaping with his life. He then went to stop his former padawan, Fortris, on Balmoraa after the younger Jedi reignited the fighting there. After picking up Satele en route, he learned of the death of Master Zym at the hands of the bounty hunter Braden. After confronting Braden, Master Dim was led to Dantooine, arriving in time to inform Satele, Tavus, and Fortis of the withdrawal from Balmorra and the continuation of the treaty.

Fortris Gal

Fortris Gall
Fortris Gall was the former Padawan of Orgis Din. He was stationed on Balmorra at the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant. He almost reignited the war by killing a Sith while rescuing Republic prisoners, and followed this by attacking and conquering a Sith Outpost. He then went to Dantooine at the behest of Master Din. There he was recruited by Master Dar'nala in her plot to destroy the Treaty of Coruscant. He was eventually convinced that Dar'nala had gone to far when she tried to kill Tavus, and later agreed that he would not disrupt the treaty any more.

Braden

Braden
A famous bounty hunter who was serving the Republic when he refused to halt his hunt of the Wookiee Dalborra. He was then fired upon by the same Republic forces due to his refusal, captured by Dalborra and taken on a Sith warship. He escaped with the assistance of Jedi Master Dar'nala, after agreeing to deliver a message that the Sith were responsible for the attack on the Senate. When he went to meet with Grand Master Zym, he found and killed the Republic captain who fired upon him on Dantooine. When Zym attempted to take Braden into custody, Braden destroyed the Jedi Master with a rocket. Braden escaped, but was later tracked down and captured by Master Din. He was taken back to Dantooine, but escaped yet again before preceding to find and captured Dalborra. It should be noted that Braden is the first character to be seen in both marketing and gameplay as an integral NPC in the Bounty Hunter class story.

Dalborra

Dalborra
A Wookiee in the service of the Sith Empire, Dalborra traveled on board the same Sith warship that Braden and Master Dar'nala were imprisoned on after catching the aforementioned bounty hunter. He appeared to execute Dar'nala after Braden's escape, but was under Dar'nala's influence, allowing her to fake her death. Dalborra was nearly killed on Korriban by a bomb in his transport, and went to Coruscant to continue the hunt for Braden. Dalborra then went to Dantooine and once again fell under Dar'nala's control. He served her until her focus broke, allowing him to kill Dar'nala with a single punch. He then was captured on the surface of Dantooine by Braden.

Lord Angral

Lord Angral
Sith Lord and commander of the fleet during the sacking of Coruscant, Lord Angral was a key figure in the Sith's decisive victory. Later he attacked Baras, blaming him for the stalemate of the Treaty of Coruscant. After Angral was informed that Lord Baras was responsible for the attack of the Republic Envoy he confronted Baras. Baras managed to convince him they should work together to find the real culprit, prompting them to travel to Dantooine where they were attacked by Dar'nala and Fortris. During the fight, he was wounded by a grenade from Tavus and knocked unconscious. After he awoke, he told Baras that their alliance was over.

Lord Baras

Lord Baras
Lord Baras was the Sith lord who negotiated the Treaty of Coruscant. In an unusual act for a Sith, Lord Baras turned down an offer of greater power by the Dark Council, possibly to achieve his own personal goals. After learning that Dar'nala was responsible for a bombing he previously blamed on Lord Angral, Baras went to Dantooine with the hopes of turning Satele Shan to the dark side. On Dantooine, he revealed the truth behind the attack to Satele, calling the Jedi hypocrites. She refused to turn though, and he allowed her to leave, telling her that the Jedi could not defeat the Sith.

These characters represent only a handful of the possible NPCs we will encounter in Star Wars: The Old Republic. It is becoming evident that BioWare's goal of infusing deep story into an MMO in prolific in their marketing as well as their gameplay, as seen in the characters listed above. As we march ever closer to the release we will inevitably met more characters in the pages of the Holonet and we are looking forward to every new introduction.

Thanks for the information DH and always look forward to your speculations. Im pretty sure SWTOR does too!!!
  • #30 Zioni
Guaranteed that players on Bothawui will discover that Jedi Belth Allusis went dark in his battle with the Sith and that is a key component to him inflicting heavy damage on the Sith before he died there. Sounds like a great opportunity for story telling there. Maybe he and his forces started using extreme tactics, etc. etc.

    Nice read.
    I love the 4th pillar. :)
  • #18 bioni
    Great :D

I'm really interested to see how Mandalorians will be worked into this game.

Just to clarify, they are Sith aligned right buuut...

The time line video describes them as "Independent warrior nomads" and have a " rugged sense of honor"

I'm not sure if it's bioware just going the extra mile, but I see them describing this faction/race/culture to the

extent to actually have them play a serious roll for the sith, and not just be a meatlump type mob running around

outside the big cities. What do you guys think? :)
  • #41 Tricky
So I am, man. What in the hell is up w/the new Mandalore?
  • #36 RogueJedi86
It's a shame Mandos aren't a third faction. I like the idea of 3 factions and how they check and balance each other in PvP, especially in regards to population imbalance. One faction gets too large, the other 2 smaller factions can gang up on the big guy in PvP. Mandos would've been an easy choice for a third faction. Heck, maybe BioWare will throw a whammer of a reveal before launch and announce just that. :)

Mandalorians are important to the Sith to keep the Republic destabilized and make it harder for them to fight against the Sith.

The time line video describes them as "Independent warrior nomads" and have a " rugged sense of honor"

That right there is the main reason why there alliance with the Sith is not very reliable. Once they find out that they're just puppets to the Sith they will revolt and turn there focus on the Sith.
  • #40 vipes65
I'd guess that there will be two Mandalorian factions, loyalists to the current Mandalore, and a secret resistance type group that want to overthrow him.
  • #23 Zoid
To add to what you are saying, it is unknown if the new Mandalore is a puppet for the Empire like the previous one. Could be they are back to being completely independent.
  • #25 chronium
I'm a believer of the Sith killed the old Mandalore to replace him with someone with more military experience and easier to control, theory.
  • #29 Korrick
That is an interesting theory, and it makes a lot of sense I have never thought of that, but im going to bet your right on that one.
  • #24 Kindar
thanks guys, that helped clear things up for me.
  • #16 Snodge
In the image for Lord Angral, it looks like he has some kind of artificial eye and/or eye socket - do you think this may be a character customisation option or something like that?
  • #14 The BBP
    Good work.
