Here is Darth Hater's dissection of the latest Video Documentary from Star Wars: The Old Republic, which focuses largely on Combat. As in our prior dissections, we will add new content in as we find it, so keep checking back. Feel free to let us know if you notice something we missed, and we will be happy to add it to our dissection with credit. Note: if something is mentioned in a prior dissection, then we do not reiterate it again here. Low bandwidth users should note there are numerous images contained in this article.
I'm just going to throw this out there and see if anyone noticed it too.
At 2:20, near the rocket's target, is a swoop/speeder bike.
Is this just a static model? Possibly. But I rather doubt it. It's in an odd position for a static object which means that it either appeared specifically for this encounter out of nowhere, or an NPC drove it there.
I'm leaning towards an NPC driving it, because having something appear out of thin air in an MMO would look rather strange. It is done all the time, sure, but in TOR I'm thinking they'll shy away from it.
So, assuming this NPC did drive this speeder bike over to fight our BH, we can only assume that this is our first glimpse at an actual drivable vehicle.
This might be wild speculation with no real grounds or evidence, but it's a hope.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before or not but if you look at teh video at 3:34 you see the same icon the smuggler uses for cover for the Imperial Agent. Looks like they will both be using the same cover system after all.
Sorry if someone has pointed this out already but, Just a note regarding the Green downward pointing arrows seen in the latest video in the vicinity of the smuggler.
We've seen these before in the Dev Walkthrough Video there to indicate where the cover areas are for the smuggler. The Green downward pointing arrows turn into the Green Gumby cover markers when the smuggler is close enough to use it
Sort of a mix of this disection and the Trooper Play Demo question, but I didn't really notice the 'Looking at you' aggro ranges (from page two of the Trooper play demo). Is it safe to say that 'aggro' was turned off for the Combat Video? Or were NPCs that unresponsive in the Trooper play test you guys did?
You really need the UI bar displayed to see how that works,
I don't know where I read this, but someone said the aggro has to make sense to the story of the planet, and in my opinion, that was the best way to describe what was going on.
So what 'Planet Story' would have shallow aggro ranges among same faction groups? I can certainly understand how Hutta would not care if you are killing some random guy, but wouldn't they be bothered if you were killing their 'buddies'?
Also, is the 'looking at you' a radius, or a visual cone -- ie is it a shorter range if they are facing away from you? (if you were able to observe this).
Very thorough dissection, though the Trooper cheering may be just that - a Trooper cheering, rather than any "rallying cry" ability. Still, nice speculation!
i doubt it, bioware pretty much said somewhere that they had particuliar ideas in mind for planet "ambience" so that they convey a particuliar feeling to the player and that day/night cycle would screw that in some case.
