Strength. Resilence. Brutality. These are just a few words that describe the Dashade race. Though they are all but extinct at the time of The Old Republic, their fearsome reputation remains, and their natural abilities make them a match for even the Jedi and Sith. Few opponents are more dangerous or terrifying than a Dashade warrior.
The Dashade are tall, reptilian humanoids, notable for their natural strength and toughness. They possess dark skin and are resistant to radiation and many Force abilities. They also have the ability to dissipate heat, which makes them difficult to detect through technological means. In addition to their large frames, their sharp claws and lamprey mouths make them natural predators. Known by some as "Force-resistant killers," the Dashade display an ability to draw strength from feasting on Force sensitive victims.
The Dashade originally hail from the planet Urkupp, which was destroyed in 343 before the Treaty of Coruscant (BTC). An ancient Sith device used to manipulate stars was sabotaged and used in tandem with the powers of the Sith sorceress Aleema Keto, creating a supernova which obliterated the planets in the Cron Cluster. These planets shattered, becoming a giant asteroid field known as the Cron Drift. By all accounts, the life forms on those planets were wiped out.
In the aftermath of Urkupp's destruction, isolated reports of surviving Dashade have occasionally been heard. Some intelligence agents have theorized that the Dashade may have had offworld colonies prior to the destruction of their homeworld, and it is known that some were placed in cryogenic suspension, to be revived at a later time when their skills were required.
Dashade warriors frequently find work as assassins or bodyguards for wealthy individuals. One Faleen family kept as many as 38 Dashade in cryogenic suspension as personal retainers. Due to the natural Force resistance of the race, some Dashade were employed by both the Jedi and the Sith to aid in the training of young acolytes.
