After two months past the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic, it is fair to say we can and should start thinking towards future content. With patch 1.2 on the way, we wanted to get a sense of what the community at large thinks BioWare’s focus should be on content going forward. It has been quite a while since we have done an open forum and figured there is no time like the present to bring it back, albeit temporarily for this discussion. In the comments section, let us know what you think. Keep the opinions constructive and do not flame your peers. We will moderate accordingly.
Next week’s podcast will feature a few of the comments as well as a discussion around the area that received the most remarks.

Posted 2/24/2012 10:26:56 AMTo quote others:
"There is entirely too much CC in PvP." I totally agree. Too many ways to stop the combat when the combat should only be hindered at best.
"fix the the crafting profession imbalance at end game" There needs to be more focus on end-game crafting. I think 1-49 may be fairly fleshed out, but there are many min-maxers at end-game that just won't put up with lackbuster crafted gear.
"Customizable gear to make you look more unique" i'd like to see more custom (orange) gear.
"Especially on the advance spec issue, please remember that wow doesn't allow you to change from warrior to shaman." I want to see a dual-spec option within an AC, but not an AC dual-spec option that would allow a Guardian to change into a Sentinel.
There needs to be a good reason to go back to the past worlds. I think GW2's idea of sidekicking down to the appropriate level is a good idea. I feel it would help the themepark mmos the most.

Posted 2/24/2012 9:58:17 AMThere really needs to be a review of PvP.
If you roll up on a 1v3 situation, there's not even that hope that you could take down a bad with you. It's just going to be chain stun and dead.
I'd be fine with resolve filling up faster, but it's got to cover snares as well. And that brings us to...
A smuggler sees a jugg, and sets up cover. Takes 3 - 4 shots before the jugg can calmly walk up to start swinging because force leap does not work against cover. Snares and knocks the jugg back to get in a couple more shots. Jugg finally gets a few good hits in only to be stunned long enough to let the smuggler get range again. Jugg dies.
There's more in the rest of the thread, I won't bother repeating what others have said. I will firmly vote against cross-server queues at this stage of the game. I realize that makes my queue time longer, but it builds community keeping it all on-server. I've made a few friends in warzones, one by smacktalk in huttball even.
Another large concept that I feel needs to be said, people need to realize this is not WoW. That may be the bar that all other MMOs are trying to reach, but that does not mean they have to duplicate every feature. If I want to play WoW, I know where it is and how to do it. I didn't last in Rift because I'm tired of WoW, I'd like to hang around here for a while. Please give me something different, not yet another clone with glowing swords. I played EQ for many years, and went to WoW when I grew tired of it. Now I'm tired of WoW after playing for many years, and am looking for something different to entertain me again.

Posted 2/24/2012 9:55:00 AM-Cantina activities. Pazaak. Sabaac. Dejarik. Reasons to go into a cantina (other than to get rested xp). Maybe even swoop racing in the future.
-More endgame solo content. I have enjoyed running ops and hard modes, but I miss my character's story quests. One of the reasons I came to SWTOR, and stayed even as it is going through its growing pains, is because I enjoy having my own personal narrative. When you hit 50, it is like hitting a brick wall. Adding more is something Bioware can do to ensure a long sub from a lore hound like me.
-A lot of what I would wish for on the PvP front is coming in 1.2 (queues for specific warzones, new wz, rankings), but I would also like to see some emphasis placed on the open world PvP areas other than Ilum. Also, space combat PvP would be an awesome addition.
-More leisure activities. Part of an MMO's blueprint is adding multiple activities in which to engage as a player. Some activities are progression based (ops, hms, wzs), and others are purely and simply leisure (hunting down vanity pets, chasing elusive titles, collecting speeder mounts). Right now, this is an area where SWTOR is lacking (but I have cut Bioware slack since this game is still in its infancy). This isn't what I would call an emergency addition, but I hope Bioware starts adding leisure pursuits sooner, rather than later. More pets. More titles. More speeder models.

Posted 2/24/2012 9:48:31 AMFor me there are several thing they can do in the future content wise :
1. give more things to do at 50 as was said before the story to get to 50 is realy cool but at 50 we get standard mmo stuff and i left most mmo because i realy dont like the endgame in most of them.
2. for the love of all thing holy and unholy lose the daily crap realy it only shows up when they cant think of anything else to keep the player running hard while going nowhere, i personaly HATE daily's its a lack of content that makes the daily's needed.
3. give content meaning as in make the player feel like he is doing something in the universe not only taking up space in the universe while going over the same thing again and again.
4. and speaking of giving things meaning rework the crafting and market if done right they are one thing not 2 things most of the crafting now is useless at 50.
There are many more point i could make but let me end with the fact that they have a lot of the warhammer online and dark age of camelot team in house, have these people realy learned nothing for those games ?
RvR is realy cool but need to be done right (look at illum right now, shiver).
Also dont be afraid to "borrow" from othere mmo's it did wonders for World of warcraft ! :)
Last but not least give players something fun to do and not make them wait a long time there are always greener pastures out there.

Posted 2/24/2012 9:32:57 AMfix the secondary stat imbalance problem permanently
fix the the crafting profession imbalance at end game...
utilise the pvp zones on other than ilum planets which they are ghost towns... probably introduce ilum mechanics with objectives there...
make all Flash points, Operation in BT/Easels image
no cross server tools except for pvp, and no recount and addons that destroyed mmos by eliminating skill
expand story context and make us revisit planets... make conpanions more vocal in conversations

Posted 2/24/2012 10:46:00 AMCompletely agree. I would really like to see if that dude really did just roll me for 10k in 2 seconds, or was there a sniper I didn't see? If it really was just that one guy, what did he do that I may be able to duplicate?

Posted 2/24/2012 9:24:40 AMI would love to see a few new Warzones, for example having 2 battle cruisers in round 1 (short and fast round, which would take only a few minutes), with mountable turrets. Whoever drops the enemy ship faster can board the other ship, which leads to round 2, an objective-based death match, having to blow up the captain's deck, for example.
That wasn't even my wildest idea, just had to keep in mind, what the engine is capable of.

Posted 2/24/2012 9:24:25 AMThings I'd like to see?
Hood down options and hiding the headgear of companions for one. Different styles of belt (Jedi knight belts that don't look like a diaper from behind).
More races that are alien and not just near humans.
Give Jedi Consulars leg armor that look like pants.
The ability to replace disliked companions with new ones who share your views (-1000/10000 with Lord Scourge here), and in terms of RP I don't think he'd be willing to stick around my LS V Jedi.
The Kotor 2 influence system where you can influence companions towards LS/DS.
More revisiting of Kotor/Kotor2 worlds. I'd like to see Manaan, Dxun/Onderon, Dantooine, Kashyyk, "The Unknown World," Telos. I'd like to see how they've changed since Revan and Exile passed through.
More level 50 story content (class/world).

Posted 2/24/2012 9:23:24 AMI would like to see Bioware try and be more bold in terms of what they offer. For example, they have a crafting system that has a lot of potential, but atm feels like a me-too version of the one from wow. It would be interesting to make skills not only useful to individuals at all levels (leveling and end-game) but also allow crafters to compine their efforts towards a commons goal. A guild set-up would be a good starting point and if they are afraid of imbalances due to large vs small guilds then make the objectives simply cosmetic (but impressive enough).
I am 100% game for the suggested multiplayer space-battles.
They should introduce some branching in terms of visited locations when leveling up.
End-game should be more than raids and warzones. They hinted at additional planets for explorers and everything, and that would be a good start. One thing I dislike is that the fleets feel like the wow capital cities where people sit there and wait for the group to form or to be accepted in the warzone. They should add variety and encourage people to go out and explore much more (datacrons are a good start for example).
For the love of God, no arena please.
Perhaps advance-class-specific multiplayer objectives (obviously instanced) where the whole "scenario" would be achievable based on the core abilities each advance class gets (including the parent class of course). So a flashpoint only for Trooper Commandos or only for Sith Assasins and so on and so forth. The point woud be to break up a bit the Trinity system (tank/dps/healer) but not for the whole game but rather in a mini-game format.
Some instanced, long-term PvP battles in different worlds where capturing and holding territories/objectives gives you rewards/titles/etc. Think of it a bit like WvWvW as adverticed in GW2, but only having different areas/planets giving different rewards that could be tied into specific aspects of the economy for example. As such, it will be a server-wide decision as to what planets would be attacked based on what the community would feel that it gives them the more suitable rewards (that's coming from an RTS perspective). This way, it can help promote more collaboration within the people of the same fanction on each server (ideally).
More minigames like pazzak.

Posted 2/24/2012 9:23:00 AM1) More PVE Material for Endgame
2) Give Illum a few PVE dailys on this PVP planet for Non PvP players to both sides.
3) Tighten up the distances in Illum to make the PvP objectives closer instead of it being all spread out.
3) Add a new PVP Catagory for each PvP Kill (similar to Honor in WOW) that can be collected with EACH and EVERY PvP kill anywhere on a PVP server. Add things you can buy with this Honor/Battle Points or whatever you want to call it, granted Valor points are more valuable. But if someone is green or higher to you and you kill them, you should get some kind of credit for a kill where ever.
4) Add a Space PVP Warground - Players use their own spaceships, just take the ships off the track and add some thrusters for some 12 on 12 or 18 on 18 ship battling. Think X Wing vs Tie Fighter. Would become very popular!
5) Give some Love to the Galactic Trade Network. Its Unusable.
6) Allow other Players in your party or opperation to come aboard your ship/home - but don't let it take off. Would add a nice social element.
7) Add more Fun Emotes for Role Players.
8) Guild Features need some love but they have a conference upcoming to talk about that.
9) Looking for Group needs some help to find parites for Flashpoints, especially if your guildmates are unable to do them with you at that time. Maybe a Flashpoint Cue System with a Tank, 2 DPS, and a Healer for a 4 man?
10) PVP Warzones need a little balance with = number of people per sides at the start.
11) Add some Public Quests like in Warhammer Online - similar objective all get credit and some rewards. Make it a Heroic Zone. Add some to Illum with some PvE objective and good money reward.
12) Hide Head Slot on Companions.
13) Add a Romance System with other Player Characters. You can level up your affection by questing and doing flashpoints with them. 5 Tiers. It unlocks stuff like Teleport to your loved one, 18hr cd, slight buff when in the same group, unlocks other romantic emotes at tier 5 ;) (/sexykiss) lol
