With less than a few weeks away from Patch 1.2’s deployment, information on the new tier gear for both PVE and PVP is starting to become more important as players plan out their progression in Star Wars: The Old Republic. In our first examination of the new tier gear added, we break down both the Black Hole and Campaign tier gear sets and how players can acquire them. For details on the new gear and more, hit the jump.
In Patch 1.2, BioWare added two new sets of PVE Endgame gear called Black Hole and Campaign. The first and easiest to acquire is the Black Hole tier that players can purchase through Black Hole Commendations received from the new Explosive Conflict Operation and weekly quests. The typical breakdown of commendation cost values is:
- Wrists: 30
- Belt: 35
- Chest: 60
- Feet: 50
- Hands: 50
- Legs: 50
- Head: 60
- Impant/Module: 35
- Shield/Generator/Focus: 50
Currently on the PTS, there are no weapons acquired through commendations at the Black Hole gear vendor, even though our DB lists the items when you search for them. This begins one of many disclaimers when it comes to this article and the gear sets in general – they do not appear to be finished quite yet with where/how players go about obtaining them. Entire gear sets, like the Annihilation set for Troopers/Bounty Hunters, and numerous weapons are not available for purchase through commendations at the vendors at the moment. Due to this, we unfortunately cannot tell if this is intentional and acquired elsewhere or will be there in an upcoming update to Patch 1.2.
In addition, it is also rather hard to compare the two sets to their Rakata counterparts for similar reasons. Regardless of that, we move to Campaign gear that players can gain through Unassembled Campaign pieces. Each Campaign item requires an Unassembled piece in order to receive it from a class specific vendor. Players can attain the Unassembled Campaign pieces during the Explosive Conflict Operation on the harder difficulty version from boss kills and chests along the way. The Campaign pieces are slot specific so be sure to not roll on the wrong slot. The Campaign tier is presumably a higher tier but due to the set not having any stat values on the PTS, we cannot point you at proof of it. For transparency on what they look like when dropped:
- Unassembled Campaign Armor
- Unassembled Campaign Belt
- Unassembled Campaign Boots
- Unassembled Campaign Bracers
- Unassembled Campaign Gloves
- Unassembled Campaign Greaves
- Unassembled Campaign Headgear
- Unassembled Campaign Mainhand Weapon
- Unassembled Campaign Offhand Weapon
You can also find schematics available for Black Hole and Campaign pieces on our DB. For the full break down of class by class gear sets and to see how they look, hit the individual pages on the table of contents above.
