Patch 1.2 introduced two new adeventure-acquired vanity pets: the Taunlet and the Orokeet. Both are acquired through a series of in-game actions, but the process from start to finish is not readily transparent. This guide walks players through the steps required to obtain their very own Orokeet. The process is divided into two major phases on two separate planets: tracking down an Unusual Egg on Alderaan, and hatching it on Tatooine. Follow us past the jump for details.
Obtaining the Egg
The Unusual Egg spawns on Alderaan in three moderately difficult-to-reach locations. The eggs are on a four hour respawn timer, meaning that there is a good possibility that no egg will be there when you arrive. Be prepared for a long wait or log off at the location and check back frequently for respawns. Keep in mind that you only need one egg to obtain your pet, so you'll want to decide whether camping a single nest or checking in on all three is the right strategy for you. Instructions on how to reach the three locations are below.
Location 1: Alsakan Lowlands (X: 182, Y: 1832)
Travel to whichever speeder hub is closest to the Alsakan Lowlands. Imperial players should take the speeder to Outpost Talarn, while Republic players will be flying to Wardpost Duvaal. From there, head southwest to the Lowlands. Once you are within the local map, continue following the road until you reach the broken bridge. Approaching from the east, go to the right of the bridge (i.e. the north side), passing through a small space between the bridge and some rocks. Go to the edge of the cliff and look for a fallen tree trunk. Jump down onto the tree trunk. From the trunk, you should see a nest on your right side. Fully heal, then jump down into the nest.
Location 2: Kaamos Territory (X: 1934, Y: -1451)
Travel to whichever speeder hub is closest to the SE corner of the Kaamos Territory. Imperial players should take the speeder to Outpost Bolym. The best option for Republic players is flying to Wardpost Landa and walking far northeast, along the north-central path leading out of the Juran Mountains. Upon crossing into Kaamos Territory, follow the dotted path that heads due east off of the main roadway. Continue along the path through a cave that is full of level 40 Killiks until you get to the mountain top. Walk up the black rocks you see in the first picture below, then turn and ascend the mountain peak to the spot noted in the second image. Below you will see a snowy landing to jump down to. From there, you should be able to see the nest as you look downward towards the path that you previously followed up the peak.
Location 3: Castle Panteer (X: -2469, Y: -293)

To reach this third nest, you will need the MGGS unique item. If you have not already purchased the MGGS, you can buy it for 10,000 credits from Lain-Ricie, a vendor in the Juran Mountains located at X: 1859, Y: 1073.
Once you have the MGGS, fly to a travel point in Glarus Valley then head west toward Castle Panteer. You should remember the area from the planet questline. Head into the ruins south of the castle’s entrance; see the picture below for the exact area. From this spot, look up and you should be able to see a square object that you can click activate (assuming you have the MGGS). Click on it and zipline up. Run up the steel beam, taking you straight to the nest.
Hatching the Egg
The Unusual Egg’s mouseover text makes it clear that you will need “a powerful heat source to incubate the egg.” Unsurprisingly, that heat source is located on the hottest, most desolate planet in the galaxy — Tatooine.
Tatooine is littered with moisture vaporators that can be interacted with. Find a vaporator with a panel on it (hint: they can even be found in Mos Illa and Anchorhead), then interact with it. After 15 seconds of channeling, you will acquire a buff called “Refreshed And Sustained.”
Once you have the buff, take a speeder to the Dune Sea. Head to the coordinates X: -2400, Y: -346 in the southwest corner of the map. Players who have completed Tatooine’s faction quest-line will remember this area as the Czerka Dig Site from “The Thing Czerka Found.” At the base, head towards the solar panels behind the entrance. Keep your eyes peeled for the nacelle with smaller solar panels. Stand beneath this nacelle.
Normally, standing under this nacelle will cause you to enter an exhaustion zone. However, thanks to your “Refreshed” buff you will be able to stand below it for a longer period without dying. After approximately 30 seconds, you will begin to start losing health. Once this happens, step out from under the nacelle.
Having been incubated with sufficient heat, your egg will hatch and leave behind an Orokeet in your bag. Right click on it to add to your collection, and you will be able to summon it whenever you want. Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a new baby Orokeet!

Posted 5/31/2012 9:46:11 AMThe eggs are not bound at all. You can trade it as long as you haven't hatched it.

Posted 5/31/2012 1:17:21 PMI see them on the GTN all the time, so they're not bound. They show up if you enter the Pet category on GTN and search. No other filters needed.
