Another week rolls by, another week to share events from around the servers. We don’t have any blood, no chaos and certainly no insanity. Well, alright one of those statements might be true. This week, we got a Swoop Race to celebrate a birthday, a military unit hosting a Roleplay event in a neutral cantina, and I will share an interesting series of player made semi-events I discovered over on the Ebon Hawk. If you guys have anything else you want to direct my attention to, send suggestions to email@example.com with the name of the event or guild to highlight in the title.
General Cherrya’s Big Birthday Race
On the 16th of September, the Brotherhood of the Republic will host a race on Tattoine to celebrate General Cherrya’s birthday. This event will be at 8:00pm Paris Time and will consist of three tiers, corresponding to the three mount speeds of 90%, 100%, and 110%, with level 50’s limited to just the final tier. It is three laps around a small track, with race ‘stewards’ standing at waypoints to ensure they are successfully crossed.
This race is planning to be a violent affair, with PvP between the racers completely open! Bring your best gear out to play, and be sure to cause as much chaos on the track as you can. The only people specifically excluded from PvP are the stewards at the waypoints. The racers are free to attack anyone else though, so have at it. The prize is 50,000 credits, and you must sign up by the 15th to qualify. Take a look at the page on the official forums to learn more and to get the links to sign up.
Party Time on Nar Shaddaa
Alpha Company is hosting a party at the Slippery Slope Cantina on Nar Shaddaa, and everyone is invited for fun and frolic. They have promised to arrive in force and to party harder than they do on Tython and Ilum, which should be interesting since parties on Tython would be completely different than on Ilum. Regardless, everyone should show up and partake in the festivities! They expect Imperial forces to show up, being Nar Shaddaa, but have asked that everyone leave their weapons at the door, to avoid the mess that tends to happen when enemies get drunk, are armed, and stuck in a confined space.
If anyone has any stories they would like have occur at this event, contact the organizer Fairbairn so they can work it in and have everything run smoothly. Everyone who wants a party, be sure to head to the Slippery Slope on Saturday the 15th at 6:00pm Eastern time. Check out this post for more information.
A Bounty list! That’s right folks, the forum user AlyxDinas and the creative people over on the Ebon Hawk Server have put together an organized list of bounties for all of you looking for some roleplaying, PvP, and credits. This topic over on the official forums details a series of games and events that can be played on a small scale.
The main ‘game’ involves players placing bounties on their own heads to entice people to come and hunt them. They follow their rules, and the hunters follow another set of rules. This is described as a way to make an awesome character prove they are awesome, either by killing anyone who comes after them, or by hunting down someone who thinks they are that awesome and proving them otherwise. There is also a ‘tracking’ game, where hunters can simply track the bounties for a similar reward, as long as they are not caught.
There are also two other quest styles for those not in the mood for the danger of bounty hunting; delivery and escort missions. Delivery missions are fairly straightforward. A player requests a simple item, such as a basic gray item, and attaches a fee to it. It give players who might not otherwise know each other some time to interact and roleplay. In the end, someone walks away with credits. Escort missions are similar but intended for longer term interactions. A player requests help doing something, such as gathering materials or completing quests, and another character takes the contract to help. One player gets what they need done, the other walks away with credits, and they both meet a new person. Its a win-win all around.
There’s a great deal of rules involved with this, but it looks like a lot of fun. Even better, its got something that everyone can do. I encourage everyone to take a look at it and see if theres anything they can try out for themselves.
Interesting results! It seems more people like to go to roleplay events after all. I was expecting more non-roleplayers out there, but I’m glad to see so many to be willing to go and roleplay at events. It really does make things rather interesting. Thank you very much to everyone who voted! As for me, I would happily roleplay in an event no matter what it was. Sometimes I do it in an event that wasn’t advertised as such just to see what kind of a reaction I can get. It can be quite funny sometimes.
But enough of that! Time for a new poll, and a new series of questions for your consideration. If the developers added a single mechanic to assist in the creation, coordination, and running of events in game, what would you want it to be? Remember, you can only have one. and be sure to explain your answers in the comments below and tell me what you think!
