My fellow players! We made it through another week and I shall reward you with two new events I discovered on our newly consolidated server forums. In the next week, a free Fleet Datacron run will be organized and a guild will be leading fully open, free to join casual Ranked Warzone runs. As a special bonus, I will be telling you about an interesting new method of getting a group for Ranked Warzones together, called the ‘kickball’ method by those that attended. As always, let me know of any events on your servers, or guilds who make a positive impact on the community. Send them to me by sending a message to darth@darthhater.com with the header “Community” and the name of the event or guild you wish to see discussed.
Free +10 Datacron
The Harbinger
It is always a fun test of a players skill and endurance trying to get the +10 Datacron hidden on Fleet. The hardest part tends to be finding a group who can function well enough together to get it. That said, the only way getting such a group and succeeding could be any better is if a guild of skilled players went out of their way to help others get it, for free.
The guild Elysium is offering such a chance on Sunday the 23rd at 6:30pm server time. Due to the recent consolidation, they are back on the server they originally started on, and decided to celebrate the event with a free Datacron run for any who show up. The last time they attempted this, they claim to have gotten over 300 people the Datacron for free. They will have people ready to pull you where you need to go, so there is no need to get the MGGS. The only requirement, they said, was to show up on time with your level 50, and be sure to follow orders. Check out the page on the official forums or here to check out their page on reddit.
Open Ranked Warzones
Master Dar’Nala
The Republic guild First Knowledge has been running a weekly Explosive Conflict Story Mode that was open to the public for the last few weeks. This week however, they have decided to move it “forward” into PvP. Therefore, they will be trying something new; organizing and running casual Rated Warzones for 2 hours on Sunday at 8pm. I know a lot of people out there are interested in Rated Warzones but dont have a full team for it. I certainly would love to give it a go, but getting the necessary people together at the same time is a logistical nightmare. These sorts of events should help considerably.
To get in on this, you can throw a whisper to Eviros or Mosus. Be sure to grab this chance before they change their minds, and let them know how much you all want them to keep it up if you like it. Organizing events like this and keeping them together is hard work. Read the topic here and be sure to tell them if you plan on attending.
Random Shoutout!
“Kickball” Style Warzones
While looking through the server forums this week, I came across an interesting topic concerning a new method of organizing Rated Warzones. First, a group of 16 players get into an ops group. Two players are picked as “captains” and roll to see who picks first. Then like all those years on the playground, the two captains pick their teams one person at a time and separate into their own ops groups. After getting into two different rooms in a voice chat, they queue up to play Rated Warzones against each other and fight, hoping that there are no other groups running for the evening.
As they said in the topic, its the fairest way to get two relatively equal teams to fight each other. Its up to the captains to pick from a pool of players they know, and build the team they want. Its certainly an interesting method, and its one I’d definitely like to try out some time.
Poll
The results are in and calendars won it with over 50% of the vote. Like many of you, I agree that its an important feature that should be in the game, and quite frankly, I’m surprised its not. It makes the coordination of events and activities so much easier for guilds and individuals.
Enough of that though, because its time for a new poll! In my time looking through events and running my own, many out there offer rewards for those who win. I’m talking about things like races, PvP tournaments, things that can be ‘won’ by an individual or group. My question is; do you like events that offer rewards? Or do you prefer your own rewards, or no rewards at all? Let me know!

Posted 9/24/2012 2:17:06 PMPoll answers don't really cover it well. I'm happy with the events as events, and I would be happy for more events even if they have no rewards. However, I also love rewards! The events are better because of them. Limited time items rule, and I love collecting pets/speeders/etc.

Posted 9/24/2012 2:47:39 PMIt was my understanding that the poll question was referring to community sponsored events like the ones listed above. As far as "world/live events" are concerned, there had better be some sort of reward that you get - sure, they're fun, but typically involve a huge grind, so some sort of unique prize is more-or-less necessary IMO.
