Like the blooming flowers of Spring, I bring you two new events this week for your minds to explore; a PvP fight and a Race. A group of Imperials will be trying to hold bridges on Alderaan while daring the Republic to remove them. Out on Belsavis, the Republic will be hosting a Swoop race with a Hotrigged Speeder up for grabs. Afterwards, I’ll bring to your attention an interesting event that merges player vs. player and player vs. environment; a PvPvE event. At the end, be sure to voice your opinion on another poll about player events, this time covering how many there should reasonably be in a week. If any of you have an event that you think we should include here in the future, send an email to darth@darthhater.com with the header “Community Events” and the name of what you want us to cover.
Events
Assault on Alderaan
Prophecy of the Five
Imperial players will lay claim to the main bridge in Juran Crossroads on Alderaan on September the 29th at 1197, 183. They have stated they will kill any Republic player who attempts to cross it from 8:00 to 9:30pm ET. They have called out all Republic forces to try and dislodge them from the location, with the apparent hope being to spur a large open world PvP fight. The goal of the event is to possess both bridges by 9:30pm, with the faction that controls both being declared the winner. If neither side holds both, then it becomes a bloody mess, with the first faction controlling both the automatic winner.
This is a simple fight with no rules but the victory conditions. Anyone can come out and take part, so be sure to get in on this blood bath while its around. Read the main topic over on the official forums for more information.
Belsavis 500 Speeder Race
Jedi Covenant
Misfit Squad will be hosting a swoop race for Republic players at Belsavis on September the 30th at 7:00pm server time. This race is a single path, from the Prison Administration Center to the Oasis Republic Post. It is obviously against the rules to use any forms of Taxi or quick travel to get there faster; you will need to ride a mount and get there with the fastest time. Anyone can take part in the race, but it is recommended to be level forty to survive the locals, with a tier three mount for the speed.
The winner will walk away with a brand new Hotrigged Speeder Bike. The losers will walk away with nothing. As someone who knows these types of racing events, I suggest you head out there, learn the track, and figure out all the time-saving routes before race day if you want to have any hope of winning. Good luck to all the racers out there! If you want to read more, check out the page on the official forums
Something interesting….
A hybrid event is always unique and creative; it's not easy finding a good way to merge PvP and PvE. This event however seems to have succeeded. This is definitely not one I have seen done before intentionally. The event has a PvE goal, set within a PvP challenge. The point is to kill Gargath on Hoth as fast as possible. This might sound easy on a PvE server, but the point of the event is to fight with PvP flags on, and to have to deal with the enemy faction at the same time as Gargath. The event discussed had ten players per faction, which would make the fight rather interesting, considering how many would have to be fighting the boss and holding back the enemy at the same time. According to those who were there, the fight went as long as it could, until the servers themselves shut down.
I’d suggest people out there up for a challenge to give this a go. You PvE folk try it out with your flags on. PvP people, have your next fight around a big world boss for the extra challenge. There’s something here for everyone, so get the two factions together and pick a boss and see who can take it down first. Good luck to anyone who tries to set this up, it sounds both tricky and fun. Check out the original topic to see what I’m talking about.
Your thoughts…
You cannot imagine how happy I am to see so many people choose that the event matters. As someone who puts on events on my server, the reward I put up is simply something to draw people in, but its difficult to supply it weekly on my own. People who like the event have occasionally refused the reward since they just came for the event itself. Even rarer, but far more appreciated, are the people who offer their own credits and prizes as donations, simply because they want to see the event flourish and be successful. As an event coordinator, and as a player, thank you for preferring the event.
As for now, another question! People often say they want to see more events. Some want dozens, some want just a few. Considering the difficulty and time it takes to put an event together, lets say one person is running an event, and obviously they cannot attend another event at the same time. Too many events and some will be ignored for other things, and soon players will be overwhelmed. Too few, and players interested in events could get bored and apathetic to the idea.
Therefore, I would like your opinions on what you think is an ‘acceptable’ number of player-made events in a single week. Give me your thoughts in the comments below and why you think we should have those many events. I consider “player events” to be anything I have discussed in these articles, such as PvP events, contests, role-playing events and so on.

Posted 9/30/2012 9:30:03 PMIn lieu of Bioware making live events, the player community has stepped up. I enjoyed both the Alderaan event this week and the Quesh event a couple of weeks ago. I just wish Bioware would make world pvp attractive with some prizes or alternative gear grind.
