Welcome back to yet another installment of the Darth Hater PvP column, where we’ll collect and update the news about PvP that matters to the PvP community. This thread will be updated periodically as necessary throughout the week, so you can refer back to it for new information. If you have any tips on current content that should be featured, or if you think your video or guild should be featured in a future column, send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This week’s installment looks at changes in playstyle, a great video guide showing off the Scoundrel/Operative changes, and some compelling discussion topics (including a running list of PvP bugs in Patch 1.4). Hit the jump for more PvP goodness.

PvP Video Spotlight:
Justin.omen presents us with a post-1.4 Scrapper Scoundrel video which also has the secondary benefit of showing off some of the balance changes that came with that patch. Some great tactical play is demonstrated here, with good awareness and an overall understanding of class mechanics. Check out Justin.omen’s channel on YouTube here.
Op-Ed: “You no longer need those.”
So, the balance changes are finally live. While many of you probably have copied characters over to the PTS in the past, many more of you probably haven’t. This means that, for many of you, this week was your first time with the class balance changes.
One class in particular had some serious balance changes done. The Pyrotech Powertech / Assault Tactics Vanguard lost a lot of their longer-range options, being basically confined now to a short-range class without any gap closer. Some might argue that this is what BioWare initially intended, since their main spammable attack was short range anyways. Even if true, it is undeniable that the class has changed substantially. In terms of ranged options, BioWare has essentially followed in the steps of Emperor Palpatine in declaring that “you no longer need those”.
When a class is changed this substantially (whether a nerf or buff), it can be common for some people to feel a certain disconnection with their character that was changed. So, I’d like to know: whether due to a nerf or buff, have you felt that a certain character you used to play is just too different post-1.4?
