This past week certainly was an interesting one for events. Luckily, next week looks to be even better! This weekend is packed with events, so even if it is not posted here, look on your server forum for anything that might be happening. Player versus player events and +10 Fleet Datacron runs seem to be the big seller this week, but there are also some topics posted that are trying to get event ideas brewing. We also change up the final question a bit this week. There is no poll, but I still want your feedback in a different way, so take a look. If anyone has suggestions for events or guilds, send me a message on our site with the header “Community” and the name of the event or guild, as well as the contact information.
War on Ilum
Prophecy of the Five
Saturday the 20th, from 9:00-11:00pm ET, the guild Firestorm will be starting a war on Ilum and is looking for opponents. This is intended to be an old fashioned brawl like the original ones on Ilum, with the hope of a hundred players from each faction fighting each other in the snowy wastes.
The organizer said the last event he attended had thirty people from each faction, but he wants there to be far more this time around. He also said if this goes well, there would be more events like it in the future. If these types of PvP events are up your alley, be sure to attend and encourage it! Post your intentions to join in the fun.
Quesh is host to another PvP event, but this one has a bit more of a twist than the Ilum fights. The organizers will attempt to have a coordinated event, involving both faction bases on Quesh. Both factions will separate into an offensive and defensive team, with three players being chosen as a commander, guard, and a healer to stay inside the base. The point of the PvP fight would be to attack the opposing factions base, make it past the army of players and NPC guards, and kill their commander.
As the organizer admits, there are no rewards for this type of event, only the fun you have in participating. I love events like this, and suggest anyone on Begeren Colony to pay it a visit and try it out, if you like PvP. There is talk on the official forum page about having this event on Ilum, but the time has yet to be decided, so visit the page and offer your suggestions.
Republic Fleet Datacron
It seems every week there are attempts for the Fleet Datacron, which is good. This time, the Republic one is up for grabs. It will be this Saturday at 7:00pm CT. The player Felio is setting it up, and has posted tactics and instructions on how to get it in the official forums. He asks everyone who wants to attend to have the MGGS and the Crystals before it starts to limit any possible delays. If you are on Begeren Colony, are Republic, and need the Datacron, learn the tactics, grab the items you need, and go get it with your compatriots.
In my quest to find more interesting events for you all, I came across some interesting topics of discussion. Begeren Colony has been fairly active this week. If you are on that server and want to get an event started, there is an open thread for people to suggest and organize events. There are already some interesting event ideas starting up, but there is no reason not to keep the ideas coming. Weekly events, one-time events, get them all churning and make the server busy and active.
Meanwhile on The Harbinger, the Delusions of Grandeur guild is looking for some partner guilds for a PvE event. It is not set up yet, but they want to get eight players together to attack Imperial bases and kill high profile NPC targets. If you are a Republic guild leader and are looking for an activity for your guild members, or you are an independent looking for some fun, respond and let them know.
The poll numbers are in, and I have to say, it is rather interesting. I understand why people like having fully planned out events. It makes sure whatever is supposed to occur actually does, and keeps the route of the event within specific perimeters. However, I’ve always gone for a bit of a mix. Most of my events start out fairly simple but structured. Usually, the event itself has some rules to it which keep it constrained a bit, but the end of it is left up to the players. That case, they have the ability to actually take part in an event and feel like they did something, not simply be a character in the background.
And as always, it’s time for something new. I have asked you many questions these last several weeks, and you have seen numerous examples of events. So in this week’s case, I ask you an open ended question. What kind of event do you like to see? Not just PvP, PvE or RP, but what variety of event exactly. There is no poll this week, I want you to leave a comment and tell me exactly what kind of events you want to see. Swoop races? Structured, story-based PvP? World Boss hunts? Let me know!
