Welcome to the special late edition of the Community Events Column! This week is PvP heavy as usual, but with a pure Roleplaying event thrown into the mix. Master Dar’Nala has an involved World PvP event with multiple different parts. An Ebon Hawk player has instituted a Kickball-style Ranked Warzone night, which started last week and is picking up some steam. Jung Ma is adding some variety this week with a cross-faction Cantina night on Voss Ka. Lastly, someone finally took me up on my offer, and I’ll bring you a personal request from the guild “The Archaic Order” for a PvP event they are running on Friday. I discuss last week’s poll question as usual and offer another question to voice your opinion about, this time relating to the relationship between guilds and players. If any of you has a guild or event you would like me to cover, send me a message on this site with the name of the event or guild and the contact details, and I’ll be sure to cover them in the next column.
Events
Duel of the Fates 2012
Shadowlands
I want to thank user J3diVal for alerting me to this event. Archaic Order on The Shadowlands server is hosting a seasonal dueling tournament November 16 at 8:00 pm EST at the Senate Tower Gardens. There are two separate brackets: 1-9 and 47-50. Each bracket has a refundable entry fee; the lower bracket is 10,000 credits, while the higher bracket is 50,000 credits. Winnings will be divided among the top three duelists for each bracket. The higher bracket is broken down by first place getting 500,000 credits, second place getting 250,000, and third getting 75,000. The lower bracket receives 100,000 credits for first, 50,000 credits for second, and 25,000 credits for third.
The rules are simple:
- Contestants may ONLY use a main hand, and an offhand weapon. All other gear slots must be empty.
- The duelists will be eliminated using double loss elimination method.
- All 4 class buffs will be given to contestants.
- No stims or medkits may be used during the fights.
- There are no restrictions to the main/off hand weapons a duelist may use.
There will be a gear check before the fight, with violators being disqualified. Fighters are also expected to be at their fight on time, and will forfeit if they are late. Participating players will need to arrive fifteen minutes early. The duels themselves will take place one at a time with general chat being used as the main mode of communication.
You must RSVP for this event. To do so, send an in-game mail to Val-lin with your information as well as your entry fee.
World PvP
Master Dar’Nala
The player Silber is hosting a World PvP match in the Outlaw’s Den on November 12 at 8:00 pm. The event consists of four parts, including a capture-the-flag game, two “special events” and a Grand Melee to finish it all off. An entrance fee of 20,000 credits is required to fight, with the winner receiving a 400,000 credit prize at the end. The organizer is going to balance the teams as best as he can, and rotate people in for later battles if balance is impossible.
The rules are short and to the point:
- Do not target any Referee (marked with Blue shields)
- Wait till the battle is called to begin.
- Lowbies are welcome to watch but will be killed if they interfere.
- 20k credits entrance fee per toon.
- No battle Rez.
If this is something you or your guild want to do, you can sign up for it in the topic.
Ranked Kickball
The Ebon Hawk
Does everyone remember Kickball-style Ranked Warzones? Sindol on The Ebon Hawk is running weekly Kickball-style Ranked Warzones for anyone interested. He asks that you have a basic understanding of Warzones, War Hero gear, and Teamspeak 3, but otherwise it is fairly simple in its presentation. They played on November 3 and again on November 8, and will continue weekly every Friday night at 8:00 pm from now on.
If you want to join in the fun, or simply refresh yourself on the rules of Kickball-style, post your character name and information in the topic and get ready for a fight.
Voss Ka Cantina Night
Jung Ma
Every Thursday night at 8:00 pm EST, the guild Esoteric Order is hosting a cantina Roleplay night at the Voss Ka cantina, and everyone is welcome to attend! It looks fairly open to fun, since there are no restrictions to levels or factions. The coordinator has written up a nice introduction for the event at theforum topic, so give it a read and be sure to have fun!
Something Interesting
There is a useful thread on the official forums for all of you Jung Ma players. The forum user SawneyRath has started a list of recurring events for the server. It has a good variety of events on it already, including; two social RP events, a weekly Rated PvP night and an RP swoop race. Check out the page, visit the events it has listed and see what the people of Jung Ma have to offer!
Poll
I like the answers from the poll last week. I am glad so many people are interested in a guide to try and improve their communities. Now that I know your interest levels, I will make it a point to write a guide like that for future publication. Hopefully it will be ready to share with all of you soon.
Meanwhile, its another week, and its time for another poll. I have a question that might strike a nerve with some people; the relationship between guild officers and the base membership, and who is responsible for content. Do you think that guild officers should provide their players with events and activities, or should players support the guild officers by running activities for the guild? Also, after you have made your decision, please voice the reason for your support below. As a guild officer and event coordinator, I want to know what you all think.

Posted 11/13/2012 8:02:43 PMGuild officers are there to organize and maintain the guild. The frills should come from the guild members, all of them.
