This week's Open Forum focuses on Guild features. Guilds have and will always be the backbone of MMOs. With that, bringing new features to help them function along their way is an important task of any developer. So in this Open Forum we ask -- What Guild features would you like to see added? In the scope of Free to Play, should BioWare ask guilds to pay extra Cartel Coins for new features? Which features do you feel are most important to add? If you have a comment that does not fit these questions but you think is relevant to the subject, feel free to add it after the jump as well.
We will hand select a few choice comments to be featured in the next podcast episode. Be constructive with your comments and do not flame or degrade others. We will moderate accordingly.
Note: This week's podcast episode was postponed due to scheduling issues. Due to that, the Open Forum pieces from this and last week will appear on next week's podcast.

Posted 12/9/2012 10:56:25 AMGuild Management : There are several things can be added to a guild to make it a nice thing. First of all as said before was that this game led people to think Guilds were important but yet nowhere is there anything given to guilds in game. Here is some stuff I think would be good in a guild
1)Guild Status : Let guilds grow levels and with each level comes certain perks from exp buffs to special mounts I always thought the way they make you spend credits in game it was too grind heavy on guilds. Let bank tabs be given at certain levels of guild status. Let there be a cloak designer so each member can have a guild cloak and emblem designer as well to design their own emblem. They were able to do this in Warhammer so can be done
2) Guild housing with all the worlds in the outer rim and core worlds look at corellia there is 1000s of levels to the city why not give guilds a level of housing. Where they can customize
3) Guild Capital Ship as a reward for a top tier guild or a guild that has 50+ members and help the social aspect of guilds this also would reward guilds for recruiting people. Again another Idea would be put a guild ship you can fly through the galaxie in its own dimension where as it could be subject to attack and this could be much like the daily quest we get or can be weekly 4 heroic or if large guild a space operation.
4) Guild search and recruit ability many games offer this where a person can come into game and hit a key and brings up a directory of guilds who the leaders are what their mission statements are and website and such this would help remove some of the spam in chats of Guilds Lfm and stuff. This would only show guilds with active players not a list of guilds who are never online and have long since left game
5) Guild Taxis these would be the same as regular taxis but are rapid and go to areas quicker
6) Guild Armory and Weapons In Guild wars you are able to make your own guild armor and weaponry would be kind of kewl to make your own stuff with guild looks to it. This would help too to destinguish the players of guilds with different looks and colors.
7) Another option to guild housing is make an instance where guilds could go kind of like Rift did with their housing you can build your base of operations and create the environs and buildings each building would come at a guild level so it makes the guild work for the levels
8) Guild newsletter and bulk guild mail this could help guilds bring news to members in game or out of game with guild outings and events game news ect.

Posted 12/7/2012 2:37:16 PMReally the only things that I think are needed that they are missing is a calendar and a guild log of who joins, is promoted, leaves, etc, and an additional visible field in the guild roster (I don't mind having to toggle them, but one more visible would make life a lot easier to check them).
There are a couple other things that I think would be cool to have, but they aren't necessary. Guild ships could be fun, but I don't think they are that important. Same with guild perks, we have legacy for that.

Posted 12/7/2012 11:36:34 AMin-game calendar (this would end so much pain for guilds struggling with maintaining a comunity)
the ability to shift click names in chat and the guild page for class/lvl/spec/guild info
the ability to right click whisper and invite directly from chat and the guild pannel
some sort of guild reputation/progression system would go a long way
the ability to see what crew skills and recepies people in the guild have
guild emblems/banners/crests

Posted 12/7/2012 1:02:35 AMA calendar for guilds would be cool, a stronger interface so that Imperials and Republics can inspect, chat, group, or add one and other would be pretty cool as well. I don't understand why this was restricted to begin with? Allow access to all worlds / guilds despite faction even if one has to sneak in or be smuggled in with maybe the exception of each others " Fleet area "
The idea of a Guild command ship also sounds good but certain things like a " mass rev " should be available with such a ship and also guild upgrades to such a ship and some sort of gvg ability.

Posted 12/6/2012 8:41:27 PMGuild Capital Ships
Guild interface
I think most guild features in this thread should be purchasable with credits or Cartel Coins. However, if any type of taxation or maintenance fee system is implemented I think it should be limited to credits (specifically credits from quest turn in and NPC looting). I see lots of great ideas from the SWTOR community in this thread, inspirational stuff :) - I'll edit my post as I come with more stuff.

Posted 12/6/2012 9:31:54 PMThe most important thing, imo, with guild capital ships is that they be extensively customisable to truely make them our own and unique (player housing but on a larger scale). Otherwise it just becomes another pointless area like the fleet.

Posted 12/6/2012 7:32:15 PMWhats disappointing is that prior to launch / just after launch, guild features and additions were stated to be the #1 priority for the dev team. 1 year after release we've seen literally nothing but guild banks added, and in recent interviews they've pretty much said they have nothing coming any time soon down the line either..

Posted 12/6/2012 4:49:26 PMI completely agree with the comments below. Definitely want to see in-game calendars, guild perks, and guild ships but they should be connected to general chat and have a trophy section.

Posted 12/6/2012 3:50:34 PMThings I'd like to see:
1) Double-click on a person’s name in the roster and whisper them;
2) Make one of the roster views--be it the simple or detailed one--my default view;
3) As an officer, I want to have more customization on what fields to show in detailed view; I want to be able to see location, member and officer notes but right now I have to make a choice of what to show.
4) Alternatively be able to hover my mouse over the list of guildies in the simple view and it brings up a transparent detailed list, like how the map can go transparent if you move;
5) Have more ranks instead of the usual 10 (15 would do nicely);
6) Be able to delegate banking responsibilities to a rank; it seems unfair to ask a GM to be community leader, raid leader and banking officer. That path leads to burnout.
7) Be able to deposit items to banks or guild banks remotely, or at least have guild banks at starports or some designated place on each planet (not just fleet); make it a legacy perk or guild perk!
8) As a GM, be able to access the gbank controls from any of my guilded toons remotely;
9) CHAT. LOG. (Even if it were just for officers and above ranks);
10) Have a higher character limit for both member note and officer note fields in roster;
11) Have a higher character limit for GMotD and Description fields in roster
12) Be able to mouse over the description fields in the roster view and see the entire message; right now it cuts off after so many characters and no mouse over to show the rest of the message (We put our Mumble and other contact info in there.)
13) Be able to set up groups of mail lists (again, even if just for officers or GM, would be handy notification tool)
14) Have an ingame GUILD CALENDAR!!!
Really like the other ideas posted so far too!

Posted 12/6/2012 2:45:16 PM1) This will seem odd to start with, but I'd rather not see guild perks that benefit characters. Swtor already has a character perks system: Legacy. One of the annoyances of Wow is when you work on building up a guild, see it fall apart and end up having to change guilds. Thus losing all the effort you put into the first guild. Let the guild perks be for things that only make sense with groups. Such as faster mail between guildies, mass revives in operations (only), etc.
2) Cross faction guilds or cross faction guild alliances. From a lore standpoint, for example, why wouldn't a (hypothetical) dark side Republic guild ally with a dark side Imperial guild? From a social point, it is just pure win to be able to chat with your friends and guilds no matter where they are in the game.
3) An in-game guild calendar would be nice. Many don't use them, but those that do seem to rely on them heavily.
4) Alt-tagging. It would be nice to be able to see which toon is who's alt without tagging someone's note. This would also help guild bank security in those cases when someone social engineers their way into "officer alt" territory. Being able to check the guild roster for confirmation would make that long existing problem go away.
5) Searchable crafting skills via the guild roster. Being able to see who has what schematics even when they are offline is a really nice benefit.
6) An guild zone with public & member's only areas. Let the public area be for showing off guild achievements (ranked warzones wins, operations trophies, etc.) and other PR related stuff. Let the member's only be for guild meetings or social events. (Leave the GTN, vendors, etc. to the fleet and member's ships. We still want folks to be in the public areas for some things.)

Posted 12/6/2012 2:29:49 PM1) Guild perks - this would be nice and it would provide more opportunity for guild-wide actions besides OPSing and RWZ. As for what should it bring, not sure there, certainly nothing gamebreaking, but just something useful.
2) Guild ships - one of the most infamous things on the Wall of Crazy. Giving a huge (like a few hundreds runs of some mission chain) task for a guild to get something as frigging awesome as this. It could work as a "mini-fleet", with different pieces unlocked as perks, plus some epic bonus, like orbital bombardment during OPS or something
3) Mail to Guild - agreed with zzyxxs, sending a mail to whole guild would me useful. Although any serious guild already has a message board, so this is not a huge problem
4) Calendar - not really necessary, as many out-of-the-game software has more options, like exporting to ical format and so on. Maybe if we will ever see recurring events in game, then it might be useful.
5) Cross-faction guilds - probably not. Or maybe make an extra chat channel like Alliance or something like that, so that people could log in and read there (also with an "Alliance" counter in top bar). Because even though there might be people from the same guild on the others side, sometimes, you just do not want the Imps to know you are planning to conquer their base.
However, and this is a point I feel I have to stress out - NONE of these things are really necessary, just more fluff for guilds. What we need first is something more do do. When we get to some five or six OPS and some 20 HM FP (or maybe "uber-HM FP"?) then I think it would be a time to focus on new features. Even though I am one of the few people who realize that dev team is not a single mass of multi-functional people, I would still like to see more "big" content (aka OPS/FP) before features.

Posted 12/6/2012 3:41:00 PMI agree. Blizzard releases 16 bosses in it's first Tier for MoP and SWTOR releases 19 bosses in one YEAR. Imagine the outcry from the WoW masses if Blizzard had released a Nightmare mode for Firelands and declared it another Tier of progression in July.

Posted 12/6/2012 3:46:41 PMYeah, you sort of missed my point...
I am happy with the state of the game, I haven't finished NiM on all operations, and I will not for some time, as I am just not that good player with craploads of time. But I said that before BioWare can focus on new features, the main concern should be content. Features can usually be worked on alongside the content when it is testing or waiting for graphics to place everything in.
Anyway, MoP has been in works for almost a year /durging which time, WoW had NO updates)
