Column: Community Events (12/7/12)

Welcome to another edition of the Community Events Column, where you are in the spotlight! We have a fun week coming up, so lets get to it. The Harbinger will be host to a Republic quest to find the harder and multi-person planetary Datacrons. Freedon Nadd will have a 3v3 Player vs. Player tournament with hundreds of thousands of credits up for grabs. A first attempt at an “eSports” PvP tournament for Rated Warzones that is open to anyone to participate in or to view. If anyone has any suggestions for me in terms of events or guilds that you think I should cover, send me information on the event and any relevant contact information via private message and I’ll be sure to cover it in my next column!

Community Events

Planetary Datacrons
The Harbinger

Everyone loves getting Holocrons! What can be better than that? Doing it in a group of course, and getting all those tricky ones you need more than one person for. The Harbinger guild Delusions of Grandeur will be doing just that on December 8 at 7:00pm EST. The event listing says to be on the Fleet fifteen minutes before the event and look for someone sending out invites. You can also look for the player “Dukker” to get an invite. After they get their group together, they will go out and get the more complex and difficult Holocrons out in the galaxy.

Any are welcome to this event, so be sure to go along and grab what Holocrons you can. The poster says that the first stop on their expedition will be Hoth, so get ready for a fight on the floating ice ball in the sky. And most important, remember to have fun.

3v3 Tournament
Tomb of Freedon Nadd

Everyone likes a good PvP bash! The guild “MVPs” is hosting a 3v3 PvP tournament Sunday December 9. The exact time and location of the event will be sent to the teams specifically, as the organizers are not allowing spectators. Their position is based on the concern of lag for the participants, so this will be a private event. Luckily, the fight itself is open to anyone to participate. You just need a team of three players and reserve your spot by tomorrow, December 8.

You can do so by posting in the event topic with the name of your team, the players, and their classes. There is an entry fee of 300,000 credits per team that will be put into the winners pot, with 50% of the total going to first place, 30% to second and 20% to third. If you want in on this, you better hurry. Grab your friends and reserve a spot by tomorrow!

Something interesting

Ranked APAC Warzone (R.A.W.) Championship
Master Dar’Nala

Forum users Scorpiooooo and EsKy will be hosting a SWTOR eSports event, called the Ranked APAC Warzone, or R.A.W., Championship. They have an event page on Facebook detailing the event rules and any updates, the links of which can also be found on their forum post. Due to the inability to spectate, they have rigged a solution where teams of seven players will fight against each other with the eighth spot on each team taken by one of the sportscasters.

Players will need to fill out an application and send it to the players email, which can also be found on the Facebook page along with the link to the live video stream when it's active. The event itself will be elimination rounds consisting of three games to a match. The final rounds will be five games to a match and the championship match will be seven games. If this sounds interesting, be sure to visit the page and sign up. If you just want to watch it, give the stream a try and let the organizers know what you think. This sounds like something that could pick up in future events and become a fun broadcast.

Poll

I have to say, I did not expect silence from my readers. That is an unsettling response. However, it is a new week, so its time to keep going. I am still interested in hearing what you all think of your servers, so be sure to vote in the poll below. If you can, leave a short comment of your server and why you like it. I am very curious how many people like their homes away from home, and why.

I didn't like my community, but these couple of weeks before the event (Ranked APAC Warzone Championship) brought out the best from our server and was some of the greatest games of swtor we have ever seen. The event was so good We had whole fleets cheering for a person in huttball. I would say that event would be the most fun i have ever had on swtor and may bring life back into our almost dead server. My guild made it to the grand final and it came down to skill and good plays but we lost hands down 3 in a row from 3 mistakes one mistake each game cost us the grand final we had it.

It was funny having 111 people watch you totally mess up a play and get capped in void star straight away in the second round and having the commentators yell my toon's name in a game of huttball saying I am unstoppable, my friends watching loved it HA.

I suggest other servers do this even though it was seven v seven it was the best games our server has ever seen so many nail biters lol and with good commentators ITS A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish one of you guys from darth hater tried to watch it and i will definitely send you guys the youtube link when its up

I'm glad to hear it went well. It's always good to know when new types of events are attempted and succeed.
