Column: PvP (12/18/12)

Welcome back to yet another installment of the Darth Hater PvP column, where we’ll collect and update the news that matters to the PvP community. This thread will be updated periodically as necessary throughout the week, so you can refer back to it for new information. If you have any tips on current content that should be featured, or if you think your video or guild should be featured in a future column, send them to me via PM.

Official SWTOR Posts

Not strictly PvP-related (in fact, there’s no real mention of PvP thus far in it), but the Rise of the Hutt Cartel digital expansion was announced today. There is an option to opt-in to updates at the bottom of the page; this could be a good idea in case PvP news is eventually announced.

Devtracker Highlights

Amber Green confirms there is an error with some Elite War Hero turn-in requirements (this was fixed in today’s patch).

Joveth Gonzalez confirms that Acid Blade ticks interrupting objective capturing in Ancient Hypergates is a bug.

Joveth Gonzalez confirms that defending pylons in Ancient Hypergates is supposed to grant medals, and the current lack of medals is a bug.

PvP Patch Changes

Patch 1.6.1, which went live this morning, fixes the Elite War Hero turn-in requirements that had been previously reported as a bug. It also discounted weekly passes, which is very useful for getting unlimited Warzones if you aren't subscribing currently.

PvP Video Spotlight

A nice come-from-behind win in the Alderaan Warzone is presented to us by ZachariahPvP. I really enjoyed the gameplay and, of course, the overarching narrative. Come-from-behind wins are always fun, especially when you had a hand in the decisive objective capture. ZachariahPvP uploads quite a bit of footage, so if you like the playstyle or the husband/wife duo in the video, there is more to check out on their YouTube channel

Op-Ed: Ancient Hypergates Post-Mortem

We’ve now had Ancient Hypergates available for a week, and opinions are varied. Besides the acknowledged bug with defending medals, I've enjoyed it. Others have come out and said that it emphasizes zerging too heavily, as well as giving a distinct advantage to classes that have extensive knockback and stun capabilities.

I've been wondering what Darth Hater’s readers have thought about it. In a previous column, I talked about how I loved the spiritual predecessor to Ancient Hypergates: Warhammer Online’s “Khaine’s Embrace”. As a result, you already know my opinion on this style of warzone. Now it’s your turn: how have you enjoyed Ancient Hypergates so far?
