For this Open Forum, we'll be focusing on the updates that will be visiting the game soon. More specifically, we'll look at Game Update 1.7: Return of the Gree, as well as the upcoming expansion. While there isn't much information floating around out there just yet, I thought it would be a great time to get some thoughts from the community on some of the following things:
- What kinds of things are you most looking forward to, or what would you most like to see in the forthcoming updates?
- Conversely, what kinds of things would you prefer not to see?
- Is there a particular aspect of the game(Story, PvE, PvP, etc) that you're hoping gets new content?
These are only examples of course, and if you'd like to add something that's related to the topic but doesn't exactly fit with the questions posed, feel free to chime in. Mostly I just want to know what most of you are looking forward to. Thanks in advance, and keep it civil. Hit the jump to add your comments.

Posted 1/24/2013 3:05:28 AMI'd like to see Rothc to bring in more guild functionality such as Guild Capital ship and offer a guild leveling system like WoW. Also i would like it if we could be able to play Pazaak. Another thing would being able to have a space raid while being in an op. One person could pilot the ship while another one shoots from it. Another idea would let us be able to gamble in spaceports. I've always seen the slots but it doesn't function, it's just for looks.

Posted 1/24/2013 12:39:39 PMIn addition to more Guild functionality as stated above. It would be nice if the GM could give more permissions to Officers, or at least have a Co-leader rank. As it stands, if the GM Needs to AFK for a time, there are a collection of things (Especially with the guild bank) that are his/her purview only.
With regards to the Guild Capital Ship, there should be a Dueling area, or just allow dueling on the whole thing.

Posted 1/24/2013 1:57:56 AMHonestly, what I would really like are the card games implemented in some way. It doesn't seem that difficult to get them in there, and it would be a fun diversion from all the other end game content. Also I would like more companion interaction, maybe talk to them about the current mission Mass Effect style, because the current system makes them feel kinda dead if you're not with them constantly.

Posted 1/24/2013 2:15:13 AMIn a game so heavily focused on interaction with your crew/companions, it does seem odd that they don't weigh in more heavily. I would love to see the companion you take out with you interact with the quest dialogue some way, or influence how it goes. Imagine a companion voicing concern over your choices, it may even influence the way you interact. At any rate, it would be more interaction that simply a little window with a plus or minus number in it, right?

Posted 1/24/2013 1:48:19 PMIdeally yes. This would be a high work feature though, so while ideal it probably isn't realistic in the near future. Ambient conversations and mission specific interactions with your companions on your ship is much lower work, and would give additional life to your ship. For example my main is a smuggler, imagine walking in on a game of holo chess between Corso and Guss where Guss was trying to use his rudimentary jedi powers to influence the flow of the game and Corso calling him out on it. Just things like this would add huge amounts of livelihood to the game in my personal opinion.

Classes being able to use all weapons available to them, Jedi being able to learn The Seven Forms of Lightsaber Combat.

Posted 1/26/2013 8:11:47 PMWhy do tons of people complain about not having dual-spec? You have something pretty close to it if you have the respec droid, and subs can respec for free...
I do agree about other classes being able to use different weapon types though. My smuggler might not be completely competent using a lightsaber, so he might have a 1/4 dmg debuff. Or maybe you could pay to be trained in the art and get that debuff removed. It has possibilities!
The only thing I want added to Char Creation is more body types. I'm surprised they didn't have at least 6 or 7 in the first place.

I don't expect anything amazing from this game and the crew making it. It will go on like the last 13 month. With nothing really new. More item grind, new recolored tier sets, more cartel market crap, also reused old stuff. This game is dead!

Posted 1/23/2013 2:17:17 PMThe main thing I would like to see is a fix to Scoundrel DPS. I'm not talking PVP, but in Operations. While their type of burst damage (for Scrapper) is fine for the trash mobs, once you get to a boss your viability is killed by the energy management system and need for specific placement.
Shoot first, being your big hit, is not an option, except for a couple times a fight. The need to maintain upper hand while it is also needed to use one of your good hits as well as maintain energy via Pugnacity, and it can only be gained by Blaster Whip every five seconds (unless you include shoot first, which can not be part of your rotation)
Dirty Fighting is built more for Gunslingers than Scoundrels, as most abilities are of 10m range, but you still have to run up and get your Pugnacity from 4m, which again is for energy management (via Pugnacity), Higher DPS by maintaining upperhand, and one of your bigger hits.
None of the other classes have such strict guidelines for doing moderate DPS. (Even when all this is done you still pale in comparison to a Sentinel who has no idea what they are doing.)
In the end, I love playing this class, but if I wish to participate in the higher end ops, I have to flip to heals. Basically making this fun, but ineffective class stuck in the wings until they completely re engineer the two dps trees.
Suggestions to start: Increase the duration of upperhand to 30 seconds, or until you drop combat. While not a perfect solution, it's a step, or better yet, just remove pugnacity and give each tree something that you can point into for better energy management. IE, give Flurry of Bolts the same energy regen as Diagnostic Scan.
Discuss.

Posted 1/23/2013 4:35:56 PMI'm of the opinion that scrapper/concealment should be primarily a pvp spec (works fine as is) and lethality/dirty fighting should be reworked as a single-target high-sustain DoT spec. As a sidenote re: your comment on Dirty Fighting range, I rather like how it is a mid-range spec, and it'd be neat if that flexibility was enhanced with a Upper Hand proc similar to what the heal spec provides, though preferably not quite so robust.
I also agree that dirty fighting has one of the most attention-intensive rotations in the game, and it should supply DPS to reflect that. I remember someone on the forums suggesting that dirty fighting/lethality should get zero cooldown on shiv, which seems reasonable to me; resource management is intensive enough that I highly doubt it would put the spec over the top, but would certainly supply some much needed flexibility and damage.
But, really the core skill needs a rework.
I've been saying this since release, though, and if they didn't change it when they still had all the systems designers....
Well, I suppose one can hope.

Posted 1/24/2013 12:31:35 PMIndeed,
One thing I disagree with is that any class or build should be PVP or PVE only. I have only some interest in PVP when I'm in the mood, and would much rather take my smug into Ops. My main is a Commando Combat Medic and thus I don't need another healer.
I don't mind the 10m range of DF, but yeah, Blaster Whip(I'm guessing that Shiv is the agent mirror) at 4m eliminates this medium range and turns us melee. Not to mention one of the dots is an AOE, dropping that from our rotation in CC situations.
I do like the idea of Blaster Whip with no Cooldown. Maybe move that cooldown to Sucker Punch (don't know the Agent version, but requires Upperhand and can proc a double hit on a bleeding target).
In addition to the Upperhand requirement, the class has so many cooldowns for ablities that after a rotation is gone through, I'm stuck with my free ability (Flurry of Bolts) for a global or two.
Has anybody found a rotation that gets your DPS up to a point where you are usable in operation? And been able to maintain that rotation in a Boss fight? Even with Full Campaign (though not fully tweeked) and Dread Guard Barrel, I'm parsing 100s less than my Sent in half Campaign Half Rakata (Rakata hilts) on an Ops dummy.
yes. One can hope. Perhaps if we make enough noise, they will do something. The Official forums for Smug are pretty much empty. Might just link this one.

Posted 1/23/2013 2:11:54 PMI've started playing again, as finally enough time has passed that I can do another story run with a friend. So, as this kind of player I really only want one thing - some kind of mentoring system, or at least additional thought to more ways you can play with your friends if your levels are very disparate.
New players are all well and good, but often there is nobody to play with you in your level range. I know it's not possible to recapture the luster of when everything was new and nobody was OP, but if you don't mind fooling yourself just a little bit you can recapture something close with mentoring. Imo, it's better than a mindless steamroll to an endgame when you could potentially enjoy the journey, too.
Edit: Oh, and please add more faces and hair options in character creation. SWTOR in has the wonkiest set of faces I've ever seen... only half of the humans have faces that could occur in nature, imo. I get tired of using the same small set that doesn't make me cringe when I look at myself. More, please.

Posted 1/23/2013 2:07:02 PMWhat I would like to see... wow... where to begin...
-Well, the character creation could use some non-humanoid races, and more options overall for customizing each race.
-Planets that are known and favorites like Kashyyyk, developed as a priority over unknown planets.
-Having swoop racing, pazaak, 3d space combat.
-Ship decoration.
-Player housing.
-Open world pvp, like the repeatable content on illum but on all contested planets.
-Having content that allows for progression on any planet at any level.
-Guild mechanics.
-Day/night cycle
-Quest rewards are more epic. For example rewards are related to heroes of the quest.
-Exploration, and having an atmosphere that fits the quest. For example trandoshians are grouped up in a flat area with some constructed areas in Belsavis, and it does not look like a fort. Why not? I could add a bit more here, but overall each area should be iconic and distinguishable and it should not feel like more of the same, or even something too similar to earth geography. It should feel alien. Also having explorable bosses that feel iconic with the area, as mentioned with the trandoshians but off the beaten path.
-Pve - AI is smarter, and uses environment. There are more mechanics for PVE such as chasing mobs or an NPC.
- More weather effects.
-Duel arenas, rank for solo pvp (then open world pvp has to be really good as well, and have nice rewards to have a nice population doing that as well)
-More story content, and the quests when in an instance should feel less static with more NPCs, alarms triggered and fail scenarios or beating close to impossible odds when triggering alarms, and the quest should feel more in-depth by making the boss we have to taken down have more of a prescience before the final show down. I know this happens in other MMOs but in single player games this is less of an occurrence and enemies are well developed, and that seems to be the problem I wish was better addressed in some way, and not just... we run into them and they run away... which would still be a good option, but something else as well along those lines.
I also would like to see more rewards for legacy, and that tying in with pvp as well, and gearing that way. I also hope that crafting and the open world gets more attention overall, and begins to develop more towards a sand box MMO, since that is what an MMO would simulate. A themepark MMO is a bad simulation, but still fun when the story is well told. The problem is that swtor is also a business that is a large investment going with a trend... and the trend it seems mostly based on peoples addictions to a themepark MMO and grinds rather than challenging/engaging/real simulation/consequences in a game... and the compromise to make the 'majority' happy has hindered pvp in swtor limiting it to a few war zones. And I wish there was a better equilibrium for everyone, and I do not blame the engine but rather the development being geared towards a target market that does not like simulated realities to be any where near real and its seems as stated before a product that slashes out any compromises to make the game lack threat/concquence and even achievement in the open world.

Posted 1/23/2013 1:25:10 PMPersonally, I'd like to see something substantial done with the light side/dark side system. Maybe make our alignment have a visual effect on our abilities. Or change what kind of out of combat recovery skill we get.
Another thing i would like to see is a romance-able companion for both light side and dark side players. As an inquisitor, i only have Azshara, and she's light side. I'd like to see the option of either changing her alignment or getting another character that is dark side based. Preferably Thana Vesh. But that's just me.
I was also wondering what it would be like to have dailies based off of helping your companions. The rewards either giving you gear for your companions or more/less affection.
I also have to agree with others on an achievement system and a fixed codex. Those would add alot more to the story and lore of the galaxy.
I would also like to see more unique adaptable gear in the game. Maybe like 1-2 sets that only synthweaving and armormechs can make.
The same skins for gear and mounts.
More story content for me personally. Class driven story that is. Again as an inquisitor I'm curious about the opinion the dark council has of me. Where is my character heading with my faction? Are the force ghosts i claimed earlier in my story gonna come back and bite me in the but? And like everyone else I'm curious what you plan to do with Revan in the future. If anything.
I'm a big PvPer. I love most of the warzones, especially Hypergates. I'd like to see more unique warzones in the future. I would also ask for a reward system in world PvP though. Comms, rep, credits, a little valor, something.
As for PvE I'd dont really have much of a preference since i don't do it often. Although i would like to see more low lvl FP for lvling.
