This quest guide will be the first in a series of guides for the Imperial quest series on Makeb. Please be advised that there will be spoilers as a result, so consider yourself warned. This guide covers the quests, but also features items available at various vendors along the way. A full and separate guide will be made to show all of the available gear, but some of the more interesting pieces are included at the end of this guide. For the full guide, hit the jump.
Countdown to Doomsday
Speak to R-C92
Darth Marr contacts the character and offers them the chance to be Projects Commander for a special task force on Makeb. The secrets of the planet may prove to be the savior of the Empire in the ongoing Galactic conflict.
He arrives vis his personal transport, Shuttle Fuliginous, and admits that the Empire is losing this war; as well as admitting that their "total defeat will occur within the year."
Makeb became wealthy by essentially hiding from the war, and escaped notice since it was tactically insignificant. However, the Hutt Cartel has taken interest in the planet due to "Isotope-5", a substance that allows manipulation of both gravity and energy, and is a near-infinite source of energy.
To Pierce the Heavens
Speak to the Shuttle Pilot
You speak to Sergeant Defain, a decorated Imperial Pilot that has been tasked with flying you to the surface of Makeb. The atmosphere of the planet interferes with any ship entering it, though small ships are able to enter mostly unharmed. After a crash landing, you find yourself planetside and mostly intact.
Scavenge Communicator Parts from the Wreckage: 0/3
Having crash landed, you're left without a way to get in touch with your squad. Scavenge nearby parts to create a makeshift communications uplink.
Repair the Communications Uplink
Having repaired the communications uplink, located on the nearby wrecked shuttle, you contact your support team. Katha Niar is apparently leading the squad, and the support team needs a safe mode of travel on and off world, so it's up to you to eliminate the mercenary forces in the area and capture the Gravity Hook for your use.
Secure Communications Bunker 72
Simply find the communications terminal inside the bunker, after dispatching the guards, and use it. Giving the all clear to the nearby security checkpoint, you move on to the next bunker.
Bonus: Defeat Regulator Forces 0/50
These guys are scattered all around the area, and you'll easily complete this shortly before or after arriving at the next objective.
Daily: Defensive Data - Communications Bunker 72
This datapad, located inside of Bunker 72, will begin a daily quest that requires you to steal the Gravity Hook's defensive data and provide it to Imperial Forces. First, you'll need to Download Security Procedures (located at -3589,-239, inside of the nearby tent), as well as Acquire Guard Rotation Schedules (-3462,-245); after completing these tasks, you need to access the Defensive Database, located in Gravity Hook Seven's Service Level. You can hold off on this last part until you get further in the "To Pierce the Heavens" quest line, as it takes you there anyway. After that, you finally upload the Defensive Data to a nearby terminal, located in the same room as the database.
Secure Communications Bunker 75
Same as the previous step, you need to fight your way into the bunker, defeat the guards, and use the communications console present in the room. Katha Niar also makes you aware of recent seismic activity in the form of "groundquakes", and that they've seen an increase in severity in recent times.
Secure Communications Bunker 71
Once again, fight your way inside the bunker and defeat the mercenaries. Once this is done, you're informed that the Gravity Hook is now vulnerable to attack. To do so, you'll need to assault the Hook's base, and then head up to the Docking Ring where the Command Crew is located. Lastly, you're informed that the mercenary Overseer is a mutated Whiphid, a "pet project" of the Enforcers and is quite formidable.
Secure Gravity Hook Docking Ring
Make your way to the Gravity Hook Service Level, and defeat the mercenaries that are waiting inside(also remember to complete the "Defensive Data" daily while you're here, it's in the same room). After that, take the elevator at the end of the hall, and enjoy a really cool cutscene as you ride to the Docking Ring via the Gravity Hook. Upon arrival, you'll need to fight your way to the southern part of the room.
Bonus: Defeat Regulators in the Docking Ring 0/20
The Regulators are scattered all throughout this room, and there's no need to kill every single one of them if you don't want to, as there are more than enough to satisfy the bonus.
After accessing the security terminal, you're also asked by Katha Niar to obtain a voiceprint from the Hutt overseer so that you can fool the Hutts when they contact the Docking Ring.
Defeat the Hutt Overseer
Commander J'Ruush is the overseer, and you'll need to defeat him to gain access to the Central Control Console so that your team can land safely.
We're introduced to the rest of your tactical team once they've landed: Katha Niar we're already familiar with. Lord Cytharat is a Sith Pureblood Warrior and is the team's muscle. Captain Hanthor a Cathar and the team's communications specialist. Finally, Bedereaux is the team's information specialist.
Your next target is Solida Hesk; a mining corporation executive that helped the Hutts discover and cultivate Isotope-5. A socialite, she is currently hosting a lavish party at her private resort. Katha Niar informs you that if anyone knows where the stockpile of Isotope-5 is, it's Hesk.
Secure the Outpost Holoterminal
Having made the Docking Ring official Imperial property, it's time to locate the nearby Outpost and it's holoterminal. Also, for all your hard work, you've gained access to the Loading Ring and features a number of worthwhile amenities: Class and Profession trainers, mailboxes, PvP and PvE quest terminals, as well as a few interesting vendors.
Selling items related to the Seeker Droid missions, she is located next to the GSI Mission Terminal. She sells "Optimized" stims that increase a specific stat by 136 for 60 minutes. She also sells this:
As of this writing, the GSI missions aren't available to me, though I imagine they will open up shortly. There will be a separate article covering those, so keep an eye out.
Modification Commendations Vendor
This vendor offers ________ 25/25B modifications such as barrels and armoring, for Planetary Commendations.
Classic Gear Vendors
There are two of these guys:
- Sigea Broos sells Birthright Items, old Daily Commendation mounts (Lhosan Thunderbolt and Longspur Blaze), Rakata AlphaWave Inhibitors, and several different schematics. This is essentially the same stuff that pre-RotHC daily vendors sold, and now they are sold for Basic Commendations.
- Noraa'Kazz sells Campaign Chestpieces and Relics for 150 Planetary Commendations each.
Makeb Orbital Station Features
I also wanted to make a note of the features available to folks on Makeb's Orbital Station. It features:
- Priority Mission Terminal
- Priority Transportation Terminal
- Makeb Orbital Station
- Section X
- The Black Hole
- Galactic Trade Kiosk
- Profession Trainers
It also has several very interesting vendors.
Makeb Imperial Force Reputation Vendor
Core Miner's Set
This set is offered for credits, and are empty shells for customization. They require Friend standing with Makeb Imperial Force.
Makeb Assault Set
This set is offered for credits as well, but requires Champion standing with Makeb Imperial Force.
This vendor also offers a selection of Exceptional weapons for the cost of 85 Planetary Commendations each. They are featured below.
It's worth noting that there are also "Basic Gear" vendors that sell Arkanian gear as well. I'll include screenshots of each in a bulk gallery below, as I feel that each one would take up entirely too much space in this quest guide.
That'll do it for the first part of this quest guide. Look for more in the very near future, and thanks for reading!
