Today we were given access to the new event in SWTOR: Bounty Contract Week. This will serve as a general overview, using the Imperial Mission on Hutta as an example. For more, hit the jump.
There are several spots for you to begin the lead-in mission on your respective fleets; the most prominent is right outside the Cartel Bazaar elevator. You'll notice two NPCs standing next to a person frozen in carbonite. Apparently the Bounty Broker's Association has decided, for a limited time, to open it's operations to everyone. As an opportunity to make some quick credits, get some cool gear, and let off a little steam, you're instructed to head into the Cartel Bazaar and talk to the representative there.
The representative for the BBA informs you that you're able to take on any of the contracts listed at the terminal, located directly next to him. They span several planets, and appear to be self-contained, one-off missions. Each contract will reward the following:
- Completed Bounty Contract - These are used to access the Kingpin Bounty Contracts, which are higher priority missions. You need five of these to get a voucher for each Kingpin Bounty.
- 2 Basic Commendations
- Bounty Payment Lockbox
- BBA Official Certificate of Completion
Also of interest, directly next to the terminal and BBA representative is a vendor that sells two items:
- Friendly Drink - This item can be used on the Shady Characters you will encounter on your Bounty Hunt. This is more effective than the default Investigation Probe, which you are given and can use any number of times. Using a Friendly Drink counts as a Light Side option.
- Interrogation Probe - The Dark Side counter to the Friendly Drink, the Interrogation Probe is also more effective at extracting information from Shady Characters, and awards Dark Side points.
So, now that you have your target, you're off to the location to meet with your client. In the case of Hutta, you're looking for Lo'Tar, who is located directly outside of the ship exit in the spaceport. You're tasked with gathering information from 5 Shady Characters on Hutta, and they are located in the Cantina at the starting area; check your map for the location.
When you encounter a Shady character, you have a few options. You can either use the Friendly Drink, or the Interrogation Probe, and they are much more successful than the standard Investigation Probe you've been given. When you use an item on a Shady Character, they will either agree and give you the information, they will refuse and remain friendly, or they will become hostile and summon three other enemies to fight you. Note that if they don't become hostile, they gain a buff that makes them immune from questioning for a short time. They also vanish afterward, regardless of the outcome. Rarely the Shady Character will drop Underworld Information, an item that can be used to progress your investigation further.
The Shady Characters revealed that a Smuggler, located in Nem'ro's Palace nearby, has more information on where you can find your target. After a short conversation with him, during which you can threaten, flirt, or coerce(the first and last producing dark and light side points respectively), the location of a Rendevous Probe is revealed to you that should draw out your prey.
Engaging in battle with your mark is essentially the same as it ever was, and the one that appeared here was an Elite. The fight itself is unremarkable, aside from the target summoning two other Standard enemies to aid her. Once they're down, you can continue to damage her, and then you have a choice. You can either use the Carbonite Grenade in your mission inventory to capture her(producing a floating carbonite chamber that follows you back to the client), or you can simply kill them, the choice is yours.
I was unable to turn the mission in on PTS, as the conversation seems to be bugged; but, I can't imagine it going much different than "Thanks, here's your reward". I'll have an updated Mission guide out in the next day or two featuring all bounties from each faction, so keep an eye out. What do you folks think? Does this seem like an interesting event to you?
