Aggro is one of the things I think most games get 'wrong'.

In non-middle age based MMO, I would hope that Aggro is far larger than, just a few feet.

I am Old School EQ -- like what Em talked about in WoW (factioning). I like increasing levels of Factioning, and having to make a choice between improving faction one faction, and reducing another. So I like the 'pre-aggro' reaction stuff.

However, in the gameplay demos I have seen, it seems the distances between different 'mob groups', is too short -- in that group B should aggro when you are murdering Group A, rather than just standing there like a spectator.

    And good podcast.

Nice podcast guys!. About the space combat thing, let's say that it's not a good idea to add this feature in the game. I'm almost looking for a better traveling system between planets. I just dont want an astromec droid that you can clic and say " wich planet you wanna go ?" and then a bit of loading screen and TADA the travel are done...come on, its Star Wars and a SW game without space will be an epic fail.

Excellent podcast. I am blown away on how much EA/Lucasarts are investing in this game over 150 million dollars... Thats means theres gonna be ALOT and I mean ALOT of content. Looking forward to your next podcast..as always.......Seems to me they have a great business model....make TOR on par with what WOW has to offer the players today ...a TON of stuff to do.....polished and relatively bug free

I liked the podcast, but I gotta say I'm a bit taken back by the idea of too much customization being a bad thing. "At what point does your character start infringing on everyone else's environment in the game?" I was literally speechless at that statement. So she thinks that character customization should be limited on some level, so as not to possibly break the immersion of another player who may not like the looks of a person's character. I'm sorry, but to me that's ridiculous.

You're talking about a universe with Teddy bears, giant slug looking creatures and every other thing in between. STO's character customization was the best thing about that game. Making the most unique character possible is a great deal of fun for many people. Ugly or silly is matter of perspective. You may see something as overboard, while someone see's it as mean or intimidating. Or they could just think its fun to have a character look like that. I suppose a super-hardcore RP'er might see an ugly little alien with a lightsaber and throw a tantrum because it broke their immersion, but I doubt it will be that big of a problem for most. I think limiting customization for such a superficial reason would upset more people, but that could just be me.

I think customization can go too far, I hear what your saying but we have seen customization go overboard before and actually effect game play. The DH team made reference to Aion which allowed players to make ultra small characters.
People did this specifically to make themselves harder to spot and some complained it even reduced there hit box, this effected game play.
I can remember this causing a lot of heated debate on the Aion forums, I think it would be a good plan to avoid any extreme customization to the point that other players feel they are left at a disadvantage or adversely effect the uncanny valley. google it

Well I haven't played Aion, and I don't think they went into detail about the problem in Aion. Obviously if customization will somehow give you an unfair advantage in gameplay, that would be taking it too far. I was pretty much referring to aesthetics. In the Podcast she kept going on about his character going overboard because it was so ugly. As long as the size isn't a hindrance on actual gameplay, I think you should be able to make it look however you want.

Great podcast guys. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Great podcast as always.

You guys were totally wrong when it came to what we saw in the Developer Walkthrough. They specifically said that the Bounty Hunter and the Sith Warrior met up on a space station and joined up for this mission, and there has also been mention that people can join along with personal stories but they wouldn't be able to interact with the NPC's in conversations.

In essence what I'm saying is that it wasn't a Sith Warrior class quest, it was a global quest story.

This might clear it up Im pretty sure the kill/save the captain quest was in fact a group quest in this video starting at 3:40 they talk about the group quest shown at Games Con since this has been the only example of grouping we have seen the kill/save the captain quest must be a group quest. Tasuru is right!

No way would any underling on a ship address a Bounty Hunter with "my Lord."
  • #21 zechio
Not on my ships if they want to live...but also don't forget about the lack of will of the weak when facing the barrel of a rocket launcher:)

That being said, if any posted on my ships mention lord they better be talking about either me or the emperor himself least their souls be forfeit!

I wouldn't say they were wrong. While they did meet on a space station, it was mentioned that it was a sith warrior quest ( because he was sent to investigate why the captain was disobeying orders. )...the bounty hunter would have just been there for something else, or that is just where the sith said to meet up, etc.

Also, they never said that you wouldn't be able to interact with the NPCs ( The opposite infact, they said that all people can interact with them. ) it's just that they can't make the KEY decisions that will affect the outcome. ( Such as kill the captain vs. save the captain. )

See my post at the bottom about how I "think" the system is set to allow other group members to interact in the conversation without letting them interfere with key decisions.

You mentioned about you wondered how the Bounty Hunter and Sith Warrior teamed up to do the flashpoint.

During the Dev. Walkthrough at around 10mins Blaine said that 'We are now going to show you a Higher level Bounty Hunter and a Higher level Sith Warrior that Grouped up on a Space Station'.

Maybe this is a hint towards our space experience thay have been mentioning.

Any chance the DEMO will be shown to us regular people, or is it another PR - Media exclusive?
