Lansan - I really love the way BioWare is building up the story leading to TOR. It is imperative for the game imho to give the audience a more personal touch, to make us feel that the characters we play are intertwined in the whole story. To make us want to meet the main characters of that time, they put so much effort in.

(Smuggler's Vanguard)
Indu.san - I was somewhat surprised on how heavily the story focused on the smuggler's relationship with her ship. especially given the general idea flight is not going to be part of TOR. Fun read though.

Pedro - The idea of independent factions with which you may have to build some kind of rep comes in my mind after this. In biographies section of the official site after all mentions them. That could be really nice offering some more quests or even selling upgrades or gear.

The way you guys described independents made me think of a possible scenario to come out of factions. They could do something similar to Guild Wars Factions expansion but instead of Sith and Republic players fighting over territory you will be fighting over Faction support and the territory they control would then follow whatever side won the influence. It's a more realistic take in my opinion on how to fight a galactic war considering a military is only so large no side will ever have enough soldiers to effectively take over the universe.

I really hope to see a good 'Faction' game. I loved EQ1's faction system. I think it would be enjoyable to grind faction for the Hutts, to get get X, but at the cost to say Corsec (or what ever the opposing Factions would be).

Going through the site and listening to the podcast, I did not notice any speculation on Satele concerning her bounty of 100 million credits. Just curious on what everyone at DH thinks about that, and anyone in the community for that matter. I think it is content for the BH's to aim for, but maybe its something more.

Usually we have to get the whole team to agree to a speculation regarding what that bounty means.

We're still working on that. ;)

Remember, Hilo Visz is only assumed dead. I think Hilo is to the Smuggler as Braden is to the Bounty Hunter. I think she'll be the Smuggler's main NPC quest giver on Ord Mantell.

Good podcast overall, basically a review of the past week's events. I expected more dissection of Smuggler's Vanguard with some speculation. Are you all planning on giving a more thorough analysis later on?

While it is certainly possible we may revisit "Smuggler's Vanguard" in a future episode, we wanted to make sure everyone listening to the podcast knew about it and had a chance to read it for themselves before we dove into it.

So what if all this talk about ship parts isn't quite space combat? What if the ships are your house as in KOTOR. So maybe the parts are what you kinda use for decoration purposes. Either in the inside or the outside of the ship changing how it looks. Perhaps a few of the parts could have an impact on gameplay. Maybe better engines would mean a shorter fly time between planents.
I also picked up on something else. Both the short story and the developer blogs have mentioned ships being stolen. My thought is that bioware might use this as a mechanic to funnel you to certain areas. The early developer blog mentioned your ship being stolen. Which would keep you on which ever planet you are on when it is taken. Now what if through the story line you as a smuggler are able to steal a new better ship? with that same ship as in the short story you wouldn't be able to land on certain planets without being caught and your ship taken. So again they can funnel you to certain plannets perhaps the off limit planets are higher level or just much later on in the story. I really can't see bioware forcing you to stay on a plannet. there would be a transport to take to another planet. But if you are really into your ship would you really want to leave the planet with you favorite ship still stuck there? Its almost more of a emotional chain to keep you on planet or off of other planets.

    Great podcast.

There are two things I'm still thinking about when it comes to the last weeks updates.

    1. The aurebesh on Kilran's holonet page actually says Chasing "The General", with the The General inside quotations. It sort of makes it look more like a name or a nickname than a title. Perhaps a ship named The General? Not very Star Warsy but I don't know..

    2. When does the Smugglers Vanguard take place? It must be sometime before Hylo breaks the blockade since the blockade made her rich and she doesn't seem rich in the story.. uhh.

I don't know. Just questions that are floating around in my head.

    1) General to me refers to some Republic military leader or perhaps a Jedi that participated in the war. Kilran did get his scars from a Jedi boarding party ("his heroic stand against a Jedi boarding party earned him his scars"), so perhaps there is a quest for revenge against this General.

    2) Takes place before the blockade. In the timeline, Hylo is rumored to be dead because she double-crossed the Hutts, most likely a reference to what happened in the story.
  • #17 Zeveron
Yeah it got confirmed today that it's before the timeline so.. :D
  • #6 Ianril
Yes. I'm a guy. And Ianril is pronounced "sexah" in my native tongue of bad southern English. (actually "In-real")

And yes, my 15 minutes of nerddom fame was squashed in seconds by Mr. Dahlberg. What a peckerhead. :P

Thank you for putting in the comment. What you guys were talking about is exactly what I meant.

Nice podcast guys. Thanks for being an awesome TOR fansite.:)
  • #3 EvilPancakes
Yeah Hilo Vis (probably spelled wrong) is still alive...what would epitomize a smuggler more than slipping away and thought to be dead?
