After watching the E3 Multiplayer Demo?

Loekii: What are DH's speculations about the total number of races that will be available, and which ones?

Acaulescent: We have a bit of a discussion going on over at our guilds forums about ship names and what not. So my question to the DH crew is this: If you are allowed to name your ship, what would you name it?

Gifflen: I see one person (at the time of this comment) is less excited for the game now that they announced space combat. Was hoping to get a clarification as to why you would be turned off by additional game features. I understand the possibility of the game spreading itself to thin but based on what we've seen in my opinion that is clearly not the case. I guess I was just curious as to how it was a detraction.

Snodge: Why do you think we have had next to nothing regarding information about droids in general? Considering they are such a big part of the Star Wars universe, we've had a few vague mentions and the two bio's - but nothing else, so as whether they'll be companions, what they can be used for (protocol droids, repair/hacking, or maybe something to do with crafting etc). I am curious!

Savich: With most mmo's doing microtransactions now a days and with EA's partnering with Live Gamer, do you think TOR is headed down that path?

Krisis: Will we see the main characters (or any characters at all) from the novels (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance, and Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived) that have been released and/or are yet to be? Can you provide us with a 100% confirmed list of those characters down to a speculative guesstimate organized by the one and only DH crew of characters you think will make it into the game?

Boreback6: I was wondering if you guys got to sit at the mexican cafe at comic-con and sat down with the devs since they hosted that event at the mexican cafe? (Directed at Pete, didn't say anything about it last week)

aborath: How do you feel about the inability to switch factions in TOR? To me, this just seems like an artificial limitation on immersion. There is no reason why a Bounty Hunter could not be employed by a pragmatic republic official; the Sith Agent could have rebel sympathies; a Jedi Knight could fall, etc. Making faction lines less cut-and-dry would make the world much more vibrant and believable.

OneSoul1982: Had a question about the missions. Did you guys notice if the missions you got to demo scaled to your own toon level? How was the difficulty of getting from A to B?

Peterisjustok: When you guys have spent time with the game, have you noticed the animation to be clunky? Has it improved over the course of your play time? And if it is pretty clean, do you feel it will be even more polished by release?

Night_Stryker: I'm a console kinda guy that's going to be playing in a PC MMOer's world. As such, I loathe the keyboard as a controller. Have any of you ever played an MMO with a controller and if so, how customizable is the key-mapping?

I'm just glad somebody eventually spoke up for common sense and said, "Just learn how to use a keyboard." The idea of using a console controller, or anything even resembling one, to play a PC game just feels "wrong" to me... blasphemy!

Oh... and you damn kids get off my lawn!

My ears are still bleeding from all of the talk regarding MTs in connection with TOR. Please don't force me to kill the puppies and kittens. They are soooo cute....

"I'm Dave, don't contact me." Nice.

    made me chuckle.

Hehe, me too. I'm also amused by Dover's Twitter. I know it's supposed to be "Dover Bee-Ess," but when I read it it looks like "Do Verbs." I don't know how to do a verb, do you? Haha

I am the light that brings the dawn.

I have looked at that name a million times, but I never saw "Do Verbs" before, and now it's all I can see. I actually like it, from this point forward I might just pretend it was intentional all along.

Now I just need to come up with a clever explanation for how you do a verb....

Glad to help, Dover. Just make sure you toss me my 5 cent royalty every time you use it from now.

Good podcast, as always. In the future might we get Time Stamps on the Topic Summary list?
  • #18 OneSoul1982
great podcast as always. Thanks for answering my question.

thank you very much for answering my question

Guys thanks for answering my question, made me incredibly excited to hear it!

Thanks Guys for answering my question. I know you guys have touched on it in previous podcasts, but it is just nice to get your opinion on the future of the animation. I also learned something new on the fact that most games work in a rough cut until 3 months or so before and then really buff out all the animations at the end. Thanks for that Sado. It makes sense now that you said it. It gives me comfort that the game will be smooth and have a nice "polish" when it's done.

Also, Pete (Trerice)... I just realized that my name might give the impression that I think you are just OK. That is not the case at all. You are more than ok. From one Pete to another, you rock dude. (my tag comes from a funny happening is all)

Kudos Again Guys. Thanks for the focus on the community. It's much appreciated.

good podcast, I like these long ones (1hr +)

@ Emlaeh, you were spot on with your discussion of MTs. especially pointing out that most players are done once MTs can provide advantages over other players who don't buy MTs so ty. if that happens in TOR, I know I'm done.

@ Night_Stryker, you can use a wired 360 controller like I do but you need a program to make it work such as switchblade or xpadder. I've used it on several MMOs, SWG, WoW, champions online. I ONLY play games with a 360 controller... except starcraft 2. but you'll always need that keyboard to type... btw I believe you can use your 360 headset for ventrilo but even tho I just googled several articles on it, I've never done it. not yet anyway, will in a year.

I would be very surprised to see TOR, let alone any mainstream P2P game offer MT 'Advantages'. I do not think it is even a consideration for TOR -- but never say never.

I concur with the Xbox controller. I use XPadder, and am very happy with it. I have not encountered inability to Map needed keys, nor am I disadvantaged. So my direct experience is very different than those that claim it is limiting, impossible, etc.
