Probably none at the moment, most of the species are boring compared to what they could have.

First off, love the pod cast.
My question is, What are your thoughts on the ranged weapons all having the same range ?
Every tidbit of info I've seen in the way of ranged weapons, all seem to have the same range.
I almost reconsidered my first choice of bounty hunter to go sniper, but they seem to have the same range as the bounty hunters pistols.

When i first heard about the game, I wanted to be a consular, but less then a month later , i switched to smuggler and haven't changed from it. O and I have a list of the order I'm gonna play the classes
    1. Smuggler - Scoundrel
    2. Inquisitor - Assassin
    3. Knight - Sentinel
    4. Bounty Hunter - Mercenary
    5. Consular - Shadow
    6. Agent - Operative
    7. Trooper - Commando
    8. Warrior - Marauder

    Question:
What's Darth Haters' thoughts on the use of a single credit currency system similar to SWG, opposed to a multi-credit currency system like WoW's or EQ's (ie copper, silver, gold, platinum*). Do you think a single credit system will lead to extreme unrealistic inflation like in SWG.
  • #53
    Oooh, good question. =)
  • #54
De facto WoW has a single credit currency system, as copper and silver are a share of gold and thus not used separately from gold. Inflation will always be there, i just hope they won't make money as useless as it is in wow

I originally started following TOR thinking I would play an Inquisitor, but with the info coming out for the Agent made me swing my vote. In every RPG I've ever played, I've played the stealthy, roguish character that uses ranged weaponry and dispatches enemies as fast as possible. The Sniper AC fits this niche perfectly gameplay wise, and from a story perspective the Agent's story sounds very intriguing. And lastly, the Chiss are one of my favorite species in the Star Wars universe. Since they're basically exclusive to the Agent, that just reinforced my decision.

So, I'll be playing a Sniper, and no, that hasn't changed since I changed from Inquisitor to Agent. I knew I wanted the long range DPS, just didn't know what the AC name would be.

The Tor events page show a picture of some kind of bounty hunter alike characters. It's hard to miss, it's the first you see when u click the "event" option.

The bounty hunters wear similar uniforms. Do you guys think this could be some sort of exchange or czerka uniform? And maybe the guy without a mask is some sort of leader.

Even though I'm upset Sniper got Orbital Strike...I'm almost certainly going to play an Imperial Operative AC. I mean cmon...stealth, sniper rifle, blaster rifles, healing, AND vibro-daggers/blades!!! What more can you ask for?

It's getting really tough for me to decide my base class now let alone my AC. I've been back and forth between Smuggler and Consular 3 times this month. The AC reveals showed that Wizards would be able to function as a Caster DPS which raised their stock, but the recent Smuggler ability reveals by SWTOR-station allayed a lot of the concerns I had for playing a Gunslinger, like group utility, viability of the cover system in PvP, and survivability in general. So I'm stuck in limbo between the two.

    Question:
Many elements of the SWU have roots in everyday people/places/things (i.e. Tatooine - Tunisia, Yavin 4 - Guatemala, etc.). What was the inspiration for some of the new planets that have been revealed (new meaning never before seen on film or as content in a video game)? Or should I say "how much" of the new planetary content was inspired by real world places?

You know, as a beer swilling, pie eating Gunslinger I have nothing to complain about. I do, however, keep finding myself baffled by the fact the the DH Team, awesome as they are, refer to a Mercenary Bounty Hunter as a "Bounty Hunter Bounty Hunter". In the words of Inigo Montoya: "You keep using this word. I do not think it means what you think it means." In the Star Wars galaxy, as well as in the real world to me, at least, Bounty Hunters and Mercs have two totally separat connotations. On the SW side, there are plenty of canon references (In the same sentence at times) to characters being Bounty hunters AND Mercenaries. They share many of the same traits, such as eliminating targets for money, though I would definitely not call all mercs bounty hunters or vice versa. I just don't find them interchangable. For real world example... Dog Chapman is a Bounty Hunter, he brings in tagets for the authorities and is paid for doing so, as is the case with most SW BHs. Blackwater is a mercenary group who for a price, participate in military operations and security. For the purpose of the game, the lines between what they do are a little understandably blurred. Come to think of it, maybe the class should have been Mercenary with a spec in Bounty Hunting, but in my mind saying Merc Bounty Hunter isn't the same as saying something like Trooper Soldier or Agent Operative or Bounty Hunter Bounty Hunter. Just my take, phew I feel better.

Well, I think you are looking a little too deep into it, and looking too much at Earth. Right off the bat, Dog Chapman is not the same kind of bounty hunter as those in Star Wars. Basically, a Mercenary is a soldier for hire that has no government affiliation. A bounty hunter ( in Star Wars ) is a hired mercenary who specializes in tracking people down. So, yes...it would have been more accurate to say "Mercenary Mercenary"...but really, the entire point DH was making stands:

The Advanced Class name does not further define Class name, but rather restates it.

I do think your idea of having Mercenary be the Class name, then Bounty Hunter being the Advanced Class would make more sense...but it would also be less Iconic. This is a perfect example of no clear perfect choice. I would not be surprised to hear the devs have been going over this a fair bit, trying to find the best solution. For now, I think the way it is would work the best for a game. Semantics

I know the people on here tend to lean more towards dark-side but I can't help but think theres going to be way too many Inquisitors come launch. Makes me kinda tempted to change my starter to Agent.
Having said that, at least there'll be loads more helpful tips for SI's on teh internetz. Hope i'm wrong anyway. Just all that lightning is mighty temptin'!
