Community Questions

kingduck13: I'm curious about what you guys think about player behavior. Do you think the sith focus of take it all for your self and forget about everyone else will draw more players considered "jerks" to the empire side?

GhostFree: What's Darth Haters' thoughts on the use of a single credit currency system similar to SWG, opposed to a multi-credit currency system like WoW's or EQ's (ie copper, silver, gold, platinum*). Do you think a single credit system will lead to extreme unrealistic inflation like in SWG.

Ok, so for your next podcast (which I am anxiously awaiting) maybe you can repost an old podcast and call it new, and then release the real podcast the next day?

Great pc! However, Josh/sleeper should get a new mic, his sounds as if he was sitting in the next room from time to time...

Just wanted to add something I forgot.

As far as PVP CC goes, I noticed that not only does most ( if not at some point all ) ACs have an escape skill: but rather most all CC mentions only working on normal or weak targets. With the way the players are always mentioned as being "heroic", it makes me think a lot of CC won't really work in PVP to begin with. ( Which is my preferred method...and that also means I may just be seeing what I want to in the text, lol )

With ranged classes able to fire off a lot of abilities on the move, it is no longer necessary to stop melee from reaching them. Instead, it moves to the ranged person taking control and getting/staying away from the melee. So, we don't really need CC and such to give the ranged a chance to survive...and melee have abilities to get to their opponent quickly, so they don't need CC to reach their target. Instead of being a CC fest, it will become more about actual positioning.

I can see all sorts of new tactics arising from such a system, and fights being far more mobile. Also, people needing to be more coordinated so they don't find themselves split off from the main group, or watching for flanks, etc.

Honestly, whenever I hear things like "racial abilities" from BioWare, I immediately leapfrog over WoW and go directly to paper and pencil D&D, and how they implemented racial abilities.

BioWare seems to be fans of old school D&D - which is one of the reasons I always like them as developers. If they implement racial abilities, or minor racial stat boosts, I would expect it to resemble D&D more than WoW. Only my opinion.

Rofl, every time I hear that intermission, this jingle worms its self into my brain.

Oi! What do you mean Ghost's picture of the iPod!?!? Or did he do one before me? Either way, PFFT!

Hey guys, you seemed pretty interested in why some people voted "Yes" in the poll. I figured I'd create an account and put in my two cents.

Something to keep in mind: I've known about this game for awhile but hadn't really been following it closely until the past couple months. So when I answered "Yes", it was based on the premise that I knew about Juggernaut/Marauder but not the rest of the advanced classes.

Originally my plan was to play a Sith Warrior. I was a bit on the fence, but the idea of being "Maul" wasn't hugely appealing to me so I was planning on rolling a Marauder. When Assassin was announced, my plan COMPLETELY changed. I'm going to be a PvPing a lot in the game, and between the stealth and CC abilities announced they have me hooked. Can I change my mind again in the future? I guess everything is possible, but I no longer feel "on the fence" and love the idea of being a stealth-based Sith.

I also voted "Yes," but for different reasons, given that I have been following the game pretty closely.

I was always planning on playing a tank or healer, depending on what is in demand on my future server. The Trooper (Vanguard) took the top tanking slot, while the Consular (Wizard) had the primary healing slot. Once it was confirmed that the Wizard would pair healing with casting DPS, I turned to the Scoundrel because I get bored leveling/playing casters. Also, shooting darts at people to heal them amuses me to no end.

For the Sith Inquisitor's ability Sacrifice, where you kill your companion character to restore 75% of your health, I wonder if you will lose influence with that companion character if you use the ability on them.

That would be interesting. Still wouldn't deter me though:) I will be the max darkside SI walkin around randomly Sac'in his companion just because:)

BIG grats on 50 shows. Sorry I can't be at PAX to meet the crew & other Haters and buy you all a beer for the good work to date. Maybe for my wallet & liver it's better I'm not.

Right, back to it - looking fwd to mucho info from PAX please. Hey, ask a BW developer why the hell "Wizard", and if they say they like it, slap 'em! ;-)

The Republic starfighters look more like E-Wings instead of Z-95's to me. Anywho, great podcast, I seem to get more and better info from this website than the official one sometimes.

I'm with Sado on the racial bonuses. I *don't* want to have to pick a certain race for minmax reasons.

and I knew TOR was similar to WoW, I knew it was similar even more after getting to know TOR more, and now after this podcast and seeing the examples of oh thats a DK ability, that's a priest ability, etc... it's kinda like... wow, really BW? come up with other abilities plz. If I wanna play WoW, I'll play WoW...

You can do that with pretty much any game in the same genre.
