I voted other. With the exception of roleplaying,(if i want to roleplay i'll play a pen and paper game!) I enjoy all other aspects of an mmo and having a great guild to do that with is paramount to really enjoy any game me thinks. I hope world events will be whole guilds vs guilds or at least like world pvp was back in vanilla wow. TM and SS. that was alot of fun.

Where the hell is "good players" on the list of poll options for what we look for? If they are not fun people or good players, that guild is giant fucking waste of time regardless of what you are doing.

I voted no on DH gameday because the game hasn't been released yet but you guys should do a 24 hr. livestream of gameplay whenever the game comes out.

On the last poll I voted no. I would love to have a 24 hr with Darth Hater game day. But that day is Pink Day in LA when Guild Wars fans get together to raise money to fight breast cancer... so just a bad to actually have it. If it was sometime else I would be there.

October the 16th I'm meeting friends at the pub so voted NO... Oh, plus I'm in New Zealand ;-) Have fun!

What does the 24 hours of gaming thing mean? A livestream for charity or something?
  • #52 Galeg
I voted "Other" because I need a guild that provides everything, PvE (in all forms), PvP, RP (with rich lore), competent guild leadership, and a friendly, mature atmosphere. Luckily I have found that perfect guild well in advance of release.

Only voted no for the DH event cause I'll be getting married on that day:)

Community Question: Ok DH- I know you are pretty adamant about Geonosis being announced, and I think that is totally sound logic based on how much Bioware talks about it. But I propose the question... and hear me out... What if they don't announce it, and instead save it for later for an expansion? With this idea of Arena style play that could be on Geonosis, do you think they will hold on to it as ammunition for future expansions? Also: If not Geonosis, do you think they will hold on to other Star Wars Fan Favorite Planets for expansions?

Ok, with that out of the way. I've played 5 MMO's extensively, but I get bored easily with most of them and swap back and forth. I would say most of my time was spent with EQ1 and WoW. (So much time with EQ1... ahhh to be 16-20 again and have that much time).

Planets: I said 20... but that is just because it's a round number. Bioware could announce any number and it wouldn't shock me.

Guild: Who wouldn't say social is one of the main components? I would hate to surround myself with douchey guildmates that I can't stand. I think sometimes people sacrifice good guildmates for end-game progression, but that's definitely not for me. PvP would be the other big factor. I love it when you get a good group of friends together and get into intense scuffs with actual other players.

As always, Thanks for asking the good questions Darth Hater. I really enjoyed this poll and all the responses so far. Keep up the great work.

Geonosis is the single most mentioned unannounced planet and there are Geonosian avatars on the official forums , if its not released at launch Bioware has a very sick sense of humor... I dont think they would hold Arena PvP back since it should be one of thier big " WoW did it but we are doing it better and with lightsabers." systems.

They will almost certainly be holding certain planets off until after launch, wether it be in content updates or full blown expansions. There are just SOOO many planets in the Star Wars Universe to add all of the fan favorites at once would be stupid if not impossible.
  • #57 Peterisjustok
Really... It was just a hypothetical. I'm almost certain they will announce it to. The only reason I would say they might not is because it will seemingly have a lot of extra content that they haven't really touched on yet. It probably will be a pretty big announcement if it is announced.

The questions was kind of lending itself to the follow up: What planets will Bioware hold in their back pocket for the next round (whether that be expansions or extra content (touche by the way))? I could see Alien Homeworlds being held off. Kashyyyk, Ryloth, etc. These would seemingly open up tons of story arcs not necessarily class based but maybe race based? Weird idea... but just a thought.

WoW arena was lame b/c it pitted you against your own faction and frequently against other servers. An arena of Republic vs Empire, and combatants were on the same server, where grudges could develop and players interact (as opposed to wow, where you couldn't even say 'hi' most times).

Really, even intrafactional arena would be okay if it was the same server and had some fun immersion included (betting, common area to report to, etc).
  • #50 Remlish
The whole concept of arena implys neutrality , anyone can prove thier worth against anyone.

I know cross server PvP can seem a bit lame but even in a game like WoW its almost necessary because only around 20% of the userbase of all past Triple-A MMOs PvP regularly because of the difficulty curve. By having cross server PvP a company can ensure that anyone who want to PvP can do so at any time without worrying about things like current server population or Off-Peak gaming hours.

I would love a working system for in-game gambling on arena matches but this introduces many issues especialy exploits. Heres just one example of a potential major problem. Lets say I have 2 accounts , on one account I place a wager for the maximum allowed bet against my other account who signed up for an arena match to lose, and i throw the fight. Not only did the other player get scammed into a fixed fight but I still won credits that were generated by the system causing inflation.

I agree totally on the neutrality. The Arena contenders should both fear and respect each other. If there was a way to bring more prestige through story elements in SWTOR, I would be a happy camper. Because WoW really just uses Arenas as a vessel to have controlled PVP instances where rewards can be given.

And once again I agree (albeit and heavy hearted agreement) to why they won't include in-game gambling. It sucks, because I think it would be a very cool addition.

The number of planets at launch is a tricky one as no one knows just how big the planets are in terms of playable area. Also you need enough planets to satisfy the interests of people and the extensive story arcs (and levelling) of each class.. I therefore would hope that there are at least 20 planets to start with, bearing in mind some will be faction specific, and would more realistically like around 30.

in a guild I like raiding because I like to play with heaps of people at once and see heaps of people co-ordinating as a teeam to achieve a common objective. That for me is the most exciting part! But that doesn't take away from the fact that I like all the other stuff as well that comes with a game such as story, grouping with small groups, playing pvp... I love it all and just can'#t wait for this game to be released. I am even building a new computer in February next year just for this game. Oh boy am I excited!
