Whether I'm going dark, grey, or light really depends on the story. Since I've yet to play SWTOR I would have to say that I'm undecided as to which path I will take. I can make an educated guess since I tend to lean to the dark or grey choices when I play games but without having experienced the story I cannot say with all honesty that I will choose one path or the other.

BTW, there's nothing wrong with an hour long podcast. I've come to expect at least an hour from Darth Hater and any less leaves me feeling shorted since DH is the best (and most organized) source for all things SWTOR (not to mention you guys are far more observant than I will ever be).

When it comes to PVP it should stay zone dependent so while you're playing you can get a break from being ganked constantly. You know there's always that one a-hole that will just camp a zone and no one is getting any questing done that day. Having it done by zone gives that sense of danger when entering a certain area, you have to be mindful of your surroundings and it adds a little bit of intrigue and adventure to questing. But having everything and every zone PVP takes a lot away from the story since some people are just a-holes. Having the PVP specific items in the game removes all the skill from PVP anyway so Id just prefer to have the majority of the zones non-PVP so I can enjoy the game instead of having to constantly defend myself because some twelve year old little kid is bored.

    Question:
Does the height listed for the IA companion Kaliyo suggest that we will be able to customize the size of our characters with a "slider" in addition to picking from 3 (or 2 for females) different overall body types? Perhaps something new that is only recently being introduced?

    *EDIT* 11/01/10 1:19:00 AM
In image 6 of 17 on page 3 of the disection the relative "builds" of the Tr and IA are about the same, but their respective overall sizes seem quite different (and I don't think that's just a matter of perspective since they are standing quite close to one another) ... this could also be an indication that the DEVs are showing off some previously unseen customization capabilities... /fingerscrossed

I would like to clarify that my PvP preference is a lake system like WAR or DAoC.

btw... the new Search function definitely makes it alot easier for folks like me who enjoy going back and re-reading previous articles on the site... personal thank-you to everyone who helped make that happen.

I think that going "gray" is misunderstood by a lot of people. It doesn't mean that your character does not care about the outcome. I would even go as far as to say that those who do choose the gray route care more about the outcome because rather than always doing the right thing or the wrong thing, you are adapting your choices to either fit the situation or to achieve a certain outcome in the story. I think you will be surprised at just how many people end up being in the gray for this very reason.

Remember, your choices will have an impact. They've hammered it in our heads. Knowing that, it may not be such a good idea to kill everyone you can or save every kitten.

going "dark" is as equally (if not moreso) misunderstood. it doesn't mean killing everything in sight. Vader wasn't a psychopath or mindless killing machine and he was pretty dark.

That's putting hammer to nail imo...

Whether I'm light, dark, or grey depends on what class I'm playing, and which way I think would make a more interesting story. For my Sith character I already plan on playing a Imperial Agent, and will play him light or gray for the reasons you have mentioned on the podcast. He doesn't have to be evil, just duty driven and knows that sacrifices must be made, and may even start working against the Sith, or at least against the truly evil ones.

Republic character I'm undecided on, so I'm not completely sure, but likely gray, as a Smuggler would naturally fall under in the middle, and if I'm a Jedi Consular, I would be tempted by the dark knowledge I uncover. Its the whole story line. Besides, I always lean more gray in these kinds of games.

I don't think very many decisions are as black-and-white as dark and light. But it seems to be the trend in games. And what is gray? You don't make a decision at all? You walk away and throw your arms up? There's always some push a certain way in all choices that require action.

I liked the old RP system, with good and evil combined with law and chaos. The Sith Empire, I would have to believe, would be mostly Lawful Evil (especially since chaos would likely tear an empire apart). Yet with the very few examples I've seen, it's either chaotic evil (dark) or lawful good (light), with perhaps a neutral choice resulting in no change. A lawful choice by a Sith is automatically a "light-sided" decision? I hope not.

BUT, I will say that from the info we have, Bioware knows it's not that simple, and as they've said, your choices will result in the future of your character, which doesn't include faction changes. So I do have a bit of faith they've not made it so simplistic, and that these influences are tailored to the character type and faction.

With only five friday updates left before Blizzard launches its guaranteed multi-platinum third expansion to World of Warcraft , what stops do you guys think Bioware is going to pull to ensure people who are on the fence about TOR are put at ease?
  • #47 Xavier
As some of the DH guys have noted, the best think they can do is expand the beta exponentially by sending out thousands of invites around the release of Cata. Will BioWare actually do that? /shrugs.

    /ageed Xavier.
That would be smart of Bioware to do this. I for one put my thumb out to hitch a ride on that wagon!!

The morality questions are interesting indeed, I am glad they modified last weeks polls a bit and took them a step further.
For my main, an imperial agent, I will probably play either grey or dark. The grey one would be the one that puts the interests of the imperial citizens above all others (and even disobeys those silly religious agents, the Sith), the dark one would be just in it for the thrill of the game and the influence and credits that his job can get him. A ruthless powermonger, trying to climb as high as one can get in the Empire without being force sensitiv.

My republic main (probably a Jedi Consular) I will most certainly try the dark side approach. A jedi that wants to know everything about the force and have the power to control both sides. Not really evil but quite ruthless in his pursuit for knowledge.

for me, sith = dark, republic = grey as pure do gooder is corny imo. and I like the 45-1hr length
now, for second chars I may make such as a BH, I may play as good or grey. jedi knight I may play dark one day.
why? just to see what interesting things can come about. doing what's outside the norm makes things interesting, that's what will get me to replay and try other chars

Usually when ppl talk about "free for all" they mean you can attack same faction as well as opposing faction. That I wouldn't like. I'm guessing you meant more along the lines of a pvp server, flag always on for opposing faction. That's where I'd to play. I can't imagine that Bioware won't do different rulesets.
