Community Questions/Comments

Salsa30: I was wondering if you noticed any class or racial-based special abilities during your hands-on time.

Caliber: I despise water quests. As long as there are not deep bodies of water dotting the landscape, forcing me to circumvent them, I will not be terribly forlorn about the inability of our characters to swim.

Chronium: I did not vote for the first question because frankly it's all theory crafting at the moment. Until the release of the game and I get my hands on it I do not really know how well BioWare are designing the classes.

Remlish: Exploration rewards should be unique intangible nonsense in my opinion. Place a Datacron in a remote and complete pain in the rear location, and reward me with a cape that has a big happy Ewok face on it or some strange bizarre vanity pet.

Good podcast. It's like all the best parts of vent, crammed into an hour and a half :P

    /reserve for elaborate question

I was thinking today; if I remember right, Bioware mentioned their original plan was to only allow us to do Flashpoints only once. They have also not mentioned their endgame plans. It makes me wonder/excited about what kind of endgame they have planned if you originally could only do flashpoints once.
  • #17 lemric
well the idea with flashpoints being done once because of story and how they would affect it. but they have had to back away from that in regards to flashpoints somewhat so they could be repeatable, which was at the request of testers.
  • #23 Dusntmatter
I understand that, but I'm assuming they came up with their initial end-game concepts when flashpoints were only one time events. While I may be completely off, this would indicate that at least a portion of their endgame doesn't involve flashpoints.
What I'm trying to say I guess is that I hope the endgame doesn't boil down to just twiddling your thumbs in the capital city waiting for a warfront or flashpoint. That would make me a sad panda...

question is can we speeder bike across the water to land masses on the other side???
  • #8 lemric
do speeder bikes work over water or are they like hover boards in back to the future 2?

Next week will be "The Swim Strikes Back" lol

I don't know a whole lot about these datacrons, I'll admit. However, as long as they are one time use for stat increase per character, I don't mind. I don't think you should be able to visit them with the same character and garner any benefits, from repeated visits, ie farming.

For when at endgame bored from raiding, this provides more character progression, by actually making your character progress instead of adding a suit of armor to increase stats.

When stats are progressed by equipment, which is the norm at endgame, I don't feel my character is actually getting any better. These datacrons seem to allieviate this concern of mine, and I'm all for it.
  • #4 Burningchaos
I agree. As long as it's a ONE-TIME increase to stats, I'm cool with it.
  • #18 edgesarmy
Same here. A one-time increase is cool and would encourage exploration. It could even fit into the story nicely.
  • #5 Zanthos
At the moment it doesn't sound like it would work like that. Although some people still don't even like the one time increase.
  • #10 krueby
Work like what; the one time deal or farming comment?

Also, it's hard to make everyone happy when doing anything.
    This is no exception.
Some will enjoy it rather than raiding/pvp endgame, some hate it because it takes away from raiding/pvp time.
It's just another way for character progression other than the norm of do raid X 25 times for Y set of gear.
Or pvp until the cows come home for pvp gear. - These seem far more redundant/monotonous than searching far and wide, in nooks and crannies for goodies.

This is progression for the explorers, and lore seekers.

And haven't we been asking for something besides the tired old system (ie raid gear grind/pvp gear grind)? Well, this is a new idea, and I think we should let them break the mold a bit.

Interesting conversation, I started a very similar topic myself on official forums, about the trinity and all, let me know if you don't mind what you think.
