End game is bad. Bioware made the endgame planning for the first level 50 being in the middle of feb. Not for the first 50 on the first day of early launch.

Not gotten to the War Zones yet to see if my system lags or runs normal.  But if it is not a video driver issue, it could be the network card being onboard to someone that has one off board?  I noticed a difference in other MMO's lag in high traffic area just getting the NIC off board.  Since the onboard NIC does take up CPU time.

Ironically, Intrepid is largely populated with longtime members of Arena Junkies, also owned by curse. :)

Also, obviously as a republic player on Wound, population imbalance means nothing when world  PvP means nothing. Ilum is completely worthless to hold and is only really worth going to for the buff it provides and the daily/weekly. It doesn't even have the added bonus of a loot pinata boss like Wintergrasp did in WoW.

Plus I really like having instant queues and almost never seeing huttball. <3

edit: If you're legitimately looking for a Republic perspective on your podcasts, feel free to ask any one of us Intrepidians, since we're in the unique situation of being on the same server as you guys. Don't ask solaris though, he sucks

If you need someone to talk Republic perspectives, I am more than up for the task.

There are quite a few of us almost maxed on our Republic toons as well. Some re-rolled specifically to PVP.

I never encountered such a PVP-unfriendly zone in a game as I did in Ilum.

If I kill Republic players, then I get chewed out by fellow Imperial players dying to get their dailies/weeklies done so they can possibly compete with the Battlemaster/60 Valor rank Republic players who get instant queues.

If I don't kill Republic players, then I get accused of "exploiting." People need to learn the definition of what an exploit is -- this is not an unreported bug, but the actual design of the zone.

Most un-fun situation imaginable, and requiring PKing is going to highlight the problem even more, not fix it.

Outlaw's Den? No one goes there except to camp box spawns. It was supposed to be guild v. guild, but there is zero incentive or guild benefit to be there except for personal gain.

I want a new take on old school Alterac Valley, where there was a constant war going on for days that you can hop in and hop out of, but the player rewards real time instead of at the conclusion of the PvP event. Then the event can be a constant one. That is what I expected OWPVP to be in this game, as something that involved is a tempting lure to get out of the Warzones and add variety to the PvP portion of the game.

Can you please tell the pvp nub to get some headphones. Seriously very poor quality and sounds like a cars are constantly going by in the background.

Turned it off after 15 mins I wish he would have stayed in the corner quiet like he said at the start of the podcast.

They actually do have phasing on the fleets. It just doesn't kick in until well over 200 people are there.

I play on The Swiftsure which is the most heavily populated server in the game.

  • #9 cassius1981

From what I can tell 90% of the servers seem to be Imperial heavy like very, very Empire heavy. Playing on 2 seperate PVP servers (Swiftsure & Infinite Empire) as Republic we tend to be hugely outnumbered and I don't really think that will change. People like playing the bad guy & being evil.

This game has been out 3 weeks and with a larger population, people will find all of those glaring problems. Give Bioware time to hammer it out and see where they go. So far they have seemed like any problem that is major, they attack it....hardcore style. Good to see btw. lol

The way they spoke of SWTOR it looks like a crap game that is not worth to buy....

That really isn't the case.  Right now there are some glaring concerns that the community has, and hope they can be resolved.

    • Population balance is an issue
    • Ilum does have some kinks that need to be worked out
    • Operations are a bit easy
    • Some bosses are broken (Ex. We had the last boss in Foundry not trigger his death scene and had to reset the fight)

They aren't raising these concerns and being nay sayers for the sake of ripping on the game.  They are pointing out areas that should be addressed.  If you look at the official forums, these topics are hot issues, and noteworthy to be discussed.

If you listen to the rest of it, it's all; the game is great, loved this, loved that, friends are playing, wife is playing, etc.  There are great aspects to the game.

    My System Specs:

    • i7 2600K OC'd 4.8
    • 16GB RAM
    • 580 GTX
    • Vertex 3 240GB 500/500 SSD
    • 2560x1600 30" Apple Cinema Display

At this resolution, the game runs flawless with all graphics settings maxed, except for slight hiccups during some Huttball matches.  I noticed that dropping the shadow quality down from High solves the problem, but there is such a drastic difference when set at medium or low.

There are definitely some optimization problems that need to be worked out.

One of my BIGGEST gripes is the black 'transition' screen.  With a comp that loads the dialog and cut scenese so fast, they almost always begin playing before the timer of the black screen is up.  I miss out on the first 5-10 seconds of video when it does this.  This means nearly ALL ship holoterminal scenes that kick in when traveling to new plants for the first time, and many other standard quests are all clipping.  I also hate the whole elevator black transition screens as well.  I really wish there was a way to disable that.

@Ilum : I find this conversation pretty annoying. They spend 10min QQ about population inbalance yet but they all seem to be dedicated to playing empire. They are part of the problem of overpopulation of empire yet they blame it on the game itself. Its a community problem, not a game problem.

If you want to give a example to the community and help the problems, go reroll republic.

    Hanchoi RULEZ!!!!!!

Decent cast guys! I agree, when on Ilum, I'm always targeting an Imp carrier while looking over my shoulder at the 5 imps milling about close by.

Also, where did you guys get your info. on the server population distribution? 5:1? that's huge! But seeing how quickly I get into WZ, I'm not very surprised.
