I know on my server I can pretty much guess which repub characters I will be seeing when I hit the pvp queue button.  I am not sure where all the players are hiding but they certainly are not doing pve content planetside. I remember opening week when we had 200 in coruscant but  by the time i hit hoth single digits were the norm.    The cross server idea is what they are doing to address faction imbalance without merging servers.  This is to avoid the perception that the game is failing.  While I personally am not a huge pvp guru I know biowares misteps in the end game and out often then need to patch their patchs is eroding my confidence in the games longevity. I do love starwars and enjoy the game but they need to get better at fixing things the first time if they expect me to pay around 200 a year to play half a game.  This is my first mmo and I do have high expectations cause well I am paying monthly.  I know if my cable  or wireless goes out I am on the phone wanting to know why, this game is no different It is a service I am paying for and I expect my monies worth each and every month.

I have not seen any decrease in activity on my server. In fact most servers have heavy or Standard population loads as far I can see when I look before logging in. I think there are only 10 I see that are light when I logon (primetime EST).

Not sure why people think there needs to be server consolidations at this point.

i totally agree man , juring prime time (6-9 pm) servers are heavy - very heavy. Even the light servers are starting to fill up. So people on those server either gotta be patient or switch servers. They will ve full in a matter of acouple months im sure.

I've found that it's useful to use extra centurion and champion commendations to gear out companions.  You can purchase gear for any of the classes, so you can buy gear that's useful for each of your companions.  If you feel like you're wasting those commendations, it'll take a whole bunch to completely gear out all of your companions :)

100 people on Ilum at anyone time?... I get home from work, log on to do the dailies and Ilum is full of 3 people at most. Server merges please, low pop servers are beyond dead.

It says 111 in the header, but 110 just under it...

Starting to get really tired of hearing people talking about Battlemasters as if they're in a different league. Have noone actually looked at the stats of Battlemaster gear ? The difference between Champion and Battlemaster gear is completely negligible, and anyone that has been pvping a fair amount has either full or close to full Champion.

If you have more than 400 expertise and get steamrolled by someone, it's not because of their gear.

As for the whole population thing, the reason why WoW was so different was that unlike every other MMO they didn't over-promise and under-deliver. They did the opposite. It's the key difference most game companies haven't figured out about MMOs. Unlike other games (where getting sales through pre-release hype is very important) MMOs are all about the image a few months after release, which requires a completely different approach. You don't want to have a ton of people in the game early to rip it apart, you want a core audience who will spread the word about how good it is.

    Yea leaver debuff....

I would go all crazy on this because i have lost winnable WZ because of leavers (most painful leading with 150 points on alderaan and stable controlling 2 turrets and then we had 3 leavers!)

Ban them for a week from pvp... or a list 24 hours...

take some beating and you will get some

  • #13 Akerfeldt

Week ban for leaving LoL. Settle down sport. I think a 30 min debuff would be adqueate to stop the people who leave at the first sign of loss.

    That sounds reasonable.

And this actually is just the smaller portion of the asian/oceanic market. I think they are doing this because these countries will actually be fine with a non-localised client and they have localisation in the works for at least china, korea and japan.

Seeing that a huge chunk of blizz subs come from these countries, once tor is "officially" launched there i think were going to see a pretty decent rise in subs. I just wonder why they didnt include India in this launch since English is one of the most common languages there...

Another impression of mine is that western fantasy ips arent quiet as successful as sci-fi ips in the asian market but i may be wrong on that account since i only can refer to the huge succes Starwars had especially in Korea against Warcraft 3 wich afaik never came close to that. But that might be just on the eSport side of things and maybe accountable to balance/compareability/playability or whatnot...;)

The last point would be that at least in Japan a fully VO-mmo would be quiet the sales pitch since VO is a much bigger thing over there. VO-Actors are close to Moviestars in Japan unlike here in the western world...

I know most ppl that really want to play tor over in that markets will, if they are able languagewise, roll on servers that are up already or on the upcoming ones, but having localized clients will surley pull loads of new subs over there.

My only hope is that they will localise downtimes for maintenace/patches too. Me beeing a Euro Player and having to work mostly late afternoons and Eveninngs raging enough on server downtimes as they are i can only imagine what this would do to the asian markets since the times right now would actually be smack in the middle of peak time over there...

Seems like a good time to sort the low population servers out, Bioware can spin it into a reorganization of servers rather than it being seen as a failure

Great podcast guys! As far as F2P SWTOR, I only support letting ppl play the starter worlds for free. The story alone would pull ppl in.

Top line of post (appears in summary on main site above the fold) lists this as episode 110; story title and other reference below the fold refer this as episode 111.
