Cartel Packs are Pay to Win
  • #14 mandingocc6901

The rest got cutoff.  It is pay to win because rich kids can buy lots of packs, sell the rediculous priced items on gtn.   Then they buy mods and build bis gear.

Just sent a voicemail on this too...  In case this thread isn't being read anymore.

I don't think this is true because you can make just as much doing all your dailies. By the time the "bind" wears off a single item, you can have over 500k credits from doing dailies. I've spent a lot on these packs and only sold a couple million worth of items in the last 2 weeks due to the market being flooded and prices dropping rapidly (supply / demand). I would have made more in game if I had the time to do all the dailies each day. So it is resonable to say that someone who is unemployed and had the time to play everyday could have generated more in game currency than I and been able to afford the armoring and mods for a new toon faster than I.

I don't think that exclusive items in the cartel packs need to become directly available outside the packs. There are exclusive items throughout this game, such as mounts, pets, and gear that require playing group content in addition to luck (random drops and winning rolls) to obtain. Many of those items can't be sold on the GTN like the cartel pack items, making them even more exclusive. As for F2P and preferred players, if they really want expensive or exclusive items and don't want to purchase cartel packs for a chance to get them they should subscribe, save up credits, and buy them off the GTN.

Personally I really want that mask of Nihilus, but I'm not willing to spend a million plus credits (which I can afford) to get it off the GTN or buy cartel coins to purchase a pack for the chance to get it. If it pops up for 500k credits or I spend my monthly cartel coin deposit on a pack and get it that would be awesome. If I don't end up getting the mask of Nihilus then I'll do what I did after never winning a roll on Karagga's hat, I'll keep playing :)

p.s. the second thing I bought with my cartel coins was rocket BOOTS :P

  • #12 Valyrius

Right, boots!  Regardless of what the description says, unless you're wearing Bounty Hunter armor, they're rockets attached to the bottom of your boots, thus rocket boots!  Thanks for your support on that key issue Shango!

The Global unlock is for both factions, the character perk is separate, which is kinda pointless since its per character anyways.

I don't know about 42k damage, but my level 20 HK51 does 20k damage in his 1 shot ability that you get after you charge up his buff.

Can anyone tell me which class stories have spoilers in Annihilation?  I've seen 7 out of 8 stories, and I got the book, but I don't want to ruin the last in game story for myself.

I haven't played every class story myself, but I'd say definitely Jedi Knight is the biggest one, with maybe a bit of Sith Warrior and a brief mention of Imperial Agent. What's the one class story you have left to complete?

  • #8 iceberg265

BH is the only one I have left.

  • #9 Jaspor

I'm pretty sure there isn't anything in Annihilation that would spoil the BH story. Even the few spoilers I mentioned are either general knowledge to most by now (like what happened with the Emperor and Malgus) or details that are only mentioned very briefly in the book  (like the state of Imperial Intelligence).

Sweet ty!  I will get started reading it then.

Like baffel said, you get HK on any char (emp or pub) you can unlock him on any char on ur legacy (emp or pub).

You do not have to do the quest twice (once for each faction).

  • #6 Jaspor

Ah okay, I stand corrected then, thanks!

Just seemed really weird to see both faction unlocks there in the Legacy screen.

  • #3 Baffle

Once you unlock HK-51 the unlocks under the Legacy Perks Tabs appear on each of your characters. There are two there, one for each side. And you will be able to select the correct faction unlock at that point.

I got HK on my lvl 50 Vanguard, then unlocked him via the legacy perk on my lvl 3 Bounty Hunter. He had all lvl 50 gear on him, which was flagged as inappropriate or whatever. The stats on the companion tab for him reflected base level one stats, so none of the gear was giving him any stats at all. He still perfromed though and did a little damag. I didn't know his 'scaling gear' was bugged so I took it out. Now I will just put new appropriate gear in there. Good think I have a cybertech.

Oh, and Justin, I use shift+E for my boost too.

    ... rocket BOOST, dammit!

    LOL

... not all who wander are lost ...
