Happy Anniversary to Star Wars: The Old Republic

Today marks the one year anniversary for the official announcement of Star Wars: The Old Republic and it's time for a celebration. Over the last year we have enjoyed the excitement and endured the hype as BioWare has supplied us with information regarding their first venture into the MMO market. So grab a noise maker, throw some confetti, and get some champagne (if you're old enough of course) and lets all wait for TOR to blow out the candles.

The initial announcement that BioWare was making a Star Wars MMO set the gaming community off into a torrent of joy and speculation. Many people had been following BioWare closely after it was leaked that their newest unannounced project was an MMO, but few had any idea that it would be based on one of the largest franchises in the Western world.

When they finally launched www.SWTOR.com, the rush of fans quickly overwhelmed the servers as hundreds tried to sign up to be a part of the newly formed official site. Now one year later the community is going strong and constantly full of excited discussion, eagerly absorbing each new piece of information faster then you can say "May the Force be With You."

So, with this first year behind us, and many more on the way (when we will actually be playing of course), what stories do you have so far regarding TOR? What was the best reveal? What was the biggest surprise? How are you feeling about the game now as opposed to when you first found out about it? Let us know in the comment section, and Happy Anniversary Star Wars: The Old Republic

12 is nothing. I think I have seen it 12 times in slow motion alone.

I have only been on darthhater since they i stumbled on their pax preview, and have been viewing the official site for about a year.

I found out about ToR a few weeks after or as it was announced. I played through kotor II for the x'th time and was looking for news about a kotor 3. i really hope that a kotor III is created though i kind of doubt it. unless there is some way they connect the story with ToR, which i think would be awkwardly executed, I will always feel like I'm missing a bit of the story.

The fact this will be the first Star Wars game to explore Coruscant in depth is the best thing for me.

I love Coruscant as well, and I am glad they are throwing it into the game. Along with making this the first game to show it in detail I also hope they exclude Tatooine from the game for the exact opposite reasons. Every game seems to have that remote planet and it is just overkill.

The best part for me was seeing the game being played & how each player on a team has a chance to interact & conversate w/ NPCs.

I'm still a little shady on what happens when one member goes AFK though. Hopefully they'll have a system where you can put a AFK tag and it will give your other team members the choice to wait for you or to auto choose your answers.

I was also happy to see how good the art work was in the game. Very pleasing on the eyes. I was really worried when i saw that monstrosity of a wiffle-ball bat lightsaber during the eary screenshots.

& the recent Coruscant video that showed an overweight NPC (or player?) at a console gave me hope that they will have full body sliders like SWG did. As opposed to the more restrictive imagination-killing every1 in the universe has a "body by jake".
