Comic-Con: Ten Ton Hammer Interview with Bioware

There is a new interview with the Bioware team, responsible for developing Star Wars: The Old Republic, with Ten Ton Hammer which among other things discusses the story of the game. For those interested the link is below and throughout this post but be warned, we found nothing worth mentioning, so no reveals in this one. :(

Unfortunate that we have already reached this point where we know everything and it's not much info to begin with. I have hoping for a more steady stream of info after the first timeline video was released, but it seems to have slowed way down after their E3 performance.

Reading the article now, if not for anything else but to support TenTonHammer for thir past interviews with the BioWare/LucasArts team.

Yep it seems as if any interview that comes out now is basically covering the same content that they either covered in the past or what they covered in the panel, either way nothing new but that's understandable and totally not TenTonHammer's fault.

I don't know how much you guys know about why BioWare/LucasArts announced this game in the first place, but I know a little history on this issue; as I understand it anyways.

Someone a couple of months ago was searching around for what IP BioWare was going to use for their MMO and he came across about 10 reserved website addresses that the two companies bought up for possible names, like www.swtor.com, knightsoftheoldrepublic.com, etc.

Like the very next weekend (a Friday, he discovered it on a Tuesday) LA/BioWare announced they were working on a project together and you guys know the rest of the story.

Anyways, what he found was berried in a bunch of legal website mumbojombo that normal people might not ever figure out. This basically forced BioWare/LA's hand to release info way before they wanted to. I remember an interview last month where Ray Muzyka admitted not wanting to release anything about the game at all until they were getting ready for Beta at least.

So now, we are here at this point begging for info and they are just not ready to say anything because of so much that can still change. Even though the game is basically done, they are just polishing things, and a lot of that polish is changing things. I get it, they don't want to say one thing and we expect it at launch and they tell us later oh it didn't make it to the final product.

It just sucks for us in the mean time and it would have been easier if we were just not that aware of TOR until some months prior to launch.

....although, they are swallowing in a huge player base with all this secrecy, so maybe the cat getting out of the bag before it was supposed to was a good thing?
