Friday's Developer Blog Update - August 7, 2009

Today's developer blog is one from Hall Hood on the creation of the smuggler class:

The Old Republic is the first Star Wars video game to let players truly live the dream of being Han Solo or Lando Calrissian. Other games have let you engage in a bit of smuggling for profit or simulate scoundrels as a collection of stat bonuses, but none come close to delivering the humor, romance and just plain fun of being a wisecracking Smuggler who triumphs against all odds. Every member of The Old Republic team is committed to crafting the defining rendition of the Smuggler archetype.

    yeah, i can't wait to see what the next class is.
    i wish they'd release it before pax, but idk. :\

    They may release one in Germany, or even leak it before then. (think smuggler)

    I still want to be a Trooper(I love Clone Troopers), but Smuggler does sound interesting to party with.

    One quote in there sticks out for me.

    That sounds like a jab against SWG's take on Smugglers. :)

    Would love to be a sith side trooper myself but yeah, that quote stuck out to me as well.

    Haha! I was already planning on being a smuggler. :P
    Though I'm sure there will tons and tons of lightsaber wielding, super saiyan ninjas for us till kill on day one.

    Thanks to a couple polls that were done on the official forum it definitely looks like 60% of the game will be jedi/sith.

    I've been reading the comments on the TOR forum about the new update, and I've seen many who change side, or are reconsidering about being jedi/sith. By the way, I've just registered. Great to be part of this great site. Good work guys, love this page.

    Yeah I saw a couple people that were saying they rethought their class from Jedi/Sith. I am just curious how it will work out when retail rolls around because I still have the feeling that the vast majority will still play jedi/sith. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
