Preview of Friday's Update - August 14, 2009

Sean posted his preview of tomorrow's update:

Hey all

Sorry about posting so late. Trying to make sure a few things are in order before I fly overseas.

Currently, tomorrow's update looks to be a Fan Friday and Threat of Peace #13. Looking at the calendar of updates we hope to bring to all of you (I saw hope because sometimes things can change), this Friday will be the lightest day we'll have for a little while, at least.

Next week is pretty exciting; just the Developer Walkthrough video alone will be an eye catcher. We are looking to release that next Friday (on the website, demos will be going on every day at the convention) so if you happen to want to take a break for this Friday, definitely come back next week.

After that, we do have some reveals coming up. As I said before, the craziness of the convention season is almost over (for now, at least). Starting with GamesCom and going through PAX and beyond, we have some great things planned for everyone.

Again, thank all of you for the patience you've shown. We understand that there has been a little bit of a lull since the beginning of June (since after E3) but, starting next week, that is over. And no, we're not going back to the way things were just before E3... the cadence will pick up some. We're not going from a steady walk straight into a sprint but we'll be working up to a good jog at least.

A few of you have brought up the "screenshot of the week" idea. This is something we will look at doing (in the future) but our original updates were that way; spread over time instead of using the "bundled" approach we use now. There were actually a lot of complaints about us doing that so we changed to the new way which, overall, has been much better received. We are also about quality over quantity and, without going into details, every asset you see gets seen by a variety of people here.

For those of you who are attending GamesCom, definitely come by the TOR Cantina and said hi (and come see the live demo, too). I should be there most of the time (it is the Community Cantina, after all).
