Sith Warrior Class revealed in Gamespot Q&A

The new Sith Warrior class has been revealed by Bioware and Gamespot in this new Q&A:

GameSpot: Our next profession to discuss is the Sith Warrior, which we believe was shown at this year's E3. Give us an overview of this class.

James Ohlen: At E3, we did show off a Sith, and today, we are revealing that the Sith that was shown at E3 was specifically the Sith Warrior. Darth Vader was the primary inspiration for the this character class. The Sith Warrior is a heavily armored Force user driven by darkness and rage. He depends more on overpowering his opponents with martial skills than Force powers but often uses iconic powers, such as [the] Force choke. His story revolves around hunting down and crushing the enemies of the Empire, though sometimes, he is given the task of corrupting--rather than destroying--an enemy.

    Ouch, this might kill my dream of the Sith as a soul class of it's own with split trees to follow certain disciplines, ala Sith Counsular or force power user...w/e else it's supposed to be called.

    What I mean is, I was expecting the Sith to have trees that let you focus on being a tank or dps melee or dps ranged (force lightning/storm).

    Them putting Sith Warrior into it's own section mean what I was expecting to happen, didn't and most likely won't now.

    Lets just say I hope that is not the case. I would find it rather lame if there were multiples of the jedi/sith (force using) classes.

    2 on each side = 4 force classes?! How would they keep the story interesting for each class?

    I still think an officer class is my preference. Sure, all they're iconic for is getting choked to death by Vader, but I'd roll one the second I launch the game.

    Maybe they'll keep Sith with just the Sith Warrior class, with Jedi having the Force-heavy class. It would keep them "similar but distinct", like they did with Smugglers/Bounty Hunters. I'd see too much mirrored storyline in 2 classes that are basically 2 sides of the same coin, split into 2 coins with only 1 side each. What would be the storyline differences between a Sith Warrior and a Sith Consular, for example?

    The Sith who use the Force are usually very advanced. Palpatine was probably a basical Warrior for most of his early career, only hitting advanced Force powers later in his life. In a sense, maybe Sith Warrior would get a Force-using class as a prestige class for higher level. Possibly work it like Mass Effect, where Shepard gets a choice from 1 of 2 advanced classes(depending on his starting class) after doing a specific sidequest. It would make each class interesting, and has been done in MMOs before(Tabula Rasa did it).

    It all depends on the game you played. In SWG it was called a profession while in WoW it is class.

    Yes that's true but they've also been referring to them as classes as well so the meaning is muddied. Even on the site they refer to them as classes not professions so if it means the same thing as a class then the developer misspoke.

    Id be willing to bet on that as well or at least that they would be different talent builds.

    I agree that revealing a 2nd trooper class would be meh but it would be the class I would play so I would definitely be excited for that announcement.

    It's a possibility, just not sure if we can really say just yet but it is interesting the way they refer to it.

    This class feels a lot like Anakin in the Clone Wars series. He often jumps in front of blaster fire to protect the troopers, and will dish out the DPS when the time is right.

    No need to have a "sith consular" or anything of the sort. This way, they can balance out the classic offensive force powers by limiting them , otherwise the suspension of disbelief (within canon), would be shattered by the need to balance a class that relies mostly/entirely on incredibly strong force powers. Think about it this way: The true "sith lords" who are strong in the force are *not* plentiful enough to be on the front lines on a regular basis. As a "Sith warrior" (The obvious parallel to a "Jedi Knight"), you are far more "disposable".

    So if the Sith Warrior is a class of it's own, surely they will have a Sith Consular ... then that's two force users! :( I don't like the sound of this much ... I was thinking that there would be one Sith class that could branch off into Warrior/Consular/whatever is in between.
