Other Species Confirmed

After months of speculating this would happen, Sean has now spilled the beans:

Human Only - You will be able to play other species, we just have not announced those other species yet.


There will be other species to play besides humans. Now we get to continue to speculate on what they are. Sean was also kind enough to provide pictures of his trip as well as clear up some confusion over some of the news. He also reconfirmed Friday's update will be putting the Sith Warrior on the HoloNet.

    I'm interested to see if racials will come into effect as in WoW. I think the whole "you can play other races" was more or less a forgone conclusion for an MMO about Star Wars.

    I would like minor ones, such as aquatic races being able to breathe underwater. I dont want to see one that adds stats that will impact combat, because people will pick a race based on stats, rather than preference.

    That annoys me in WoW too. I've not gotten into raids before because my hunter was a blood elf instead of a troll.

    Balancing is about the most difficult part for developers in an MMO. Not only do they need to look at both sides, but how it impacts them in pve, groups, and their preferred targets. (think Rogues in WoW going after clothies)

    I have reservations about this line of thinking by the devs though if it turns out to be the case. Reason why is that they have already stated the Bounty Hunters are a pistol wielding class, not a heavy weapons class like the Trooper.

    However, if the trooper has a Swiss-Army knife of tricks up it's sleeve like the Bounty Hunter, then I want my Bounty Hunter to wield a variety of different weapons too...mainly my carbines from SWG :P

    I was a Squad Leader! The few, the proud, the "wtf they gave us our Squad Leader revamp and tore it all out with the NGE a month later". :D

    That's what it seems to suggest at least, which pretty much confirms ill be playing BH ;)
