incgamers Interview with BioWare's James Ohlen

incgamers has a new interview with BioWare's James Ohlen on story and endgame raiding:

"Obviously the endgame of our game is very important and something we've put a lot of thought into, but at the end of the day, there's a lot of different ways to do endgames," said Ohlen.

"I can't go into detail on how we're doing it, or if we're doing those things [battlegrounds, endgame raids] or in what form they're going to be coming, because we're still working on that and developing it, but in no way does us focusing on story in any way challenge us in that area."

I would really like to see some sort of over-arching storyline based end-game content. I hate to bring up WoW as an example, but there have been a few really epic server wide events that involve the cooperation of both factions in order to accomplish some big goal. One of my favorites was the opening of the AQ gates. Servers worked for weeks to get everything they needed then in the end there was a huge epic battle. That is the type of content I would love to see in a SW universe. Big, epic goals that require the participation of the entire server to achieve. Raiding and PVP can only entertain for so long, but big lore based events can be truely epic.

I liked the interview. It's nice to re-read old interviews to refresh yourself. Just this morning I re-read IGN's Exhaustive Q&A they did back in July. In light of all the info we've heard since, it was nice to look back with new perspective. Not every new interview posted on here has to be new news.

Gah! The titles of these interviews are so enticing, and then you read the article and find out absolutely no information is given. The whole thing can be condensed down to: "Endgame exists in ToR." Next week they will probably conduct an interview "announcing" that you will be able to name your own character. "We here at bioware feel that naming your own character really gives you a sense of identity and heroism in the Star Wars universe. We have no details on what alphabets you will be able to choose from, or what names are allowed to be chosen, or where your name will appear in game, but we have definitely talked about all of this stuff." FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I posted it because for some people this interview will be interesting. Especially for people who haven't been keeping up with every interview that comes along but for the person who has been following TOR from the start: I see your point.

Yeah I have no problem with you posting this stuff, my frustration is vented towards the restrictions placed on Bioware employees about what they are allowed to reveal. I understand why they have to be so vague, but that doesn't make it any less aggravating :p
