Electronic Arts 3Q FY10 Earnings Call

Last night, Electronic Arts held its Q3 2010 earnings conference call, where they reaffirmed to their shareholders and analysts that they did not include potential revenue from Star Wars: The Old Republic in their FY11 guidance.

In response, Sean Dahlberg quickly informed the official community:

Nothing has changed since we last posted about this last month. While we have not announced a specific date, we can confirm that we are targeting a spring 2011 release for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

We originally reported on the story back in January.

Yes but doesn't spring 2011 refer to the Aztecan fiscal spring of 2011, which was actually August of 1998 on our calenders, meaning that THE OLD REPUBLIC WAS SECRETLY RELEASED AND WE JUST HAVE TO FIND IT OMFGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!

Lets all not forget, June of last year EA also aquired "Realtime Worlds" who are scheduled to publish APB (http://apb.com) which has tremendous potential, a pretty positive showing so far, and the potential to shift some market focus away from TOR (from an EA perspective anyway). This doesn't skae my faith in the least. Go BioWare. Can't wait for DA:Awakinings.

EA is not pressuring BioWare to rush this MMO it looks like. I am very convinced that BioWare, alone, is grabbing so much of its success from their console titles and new RPG games, in which they garner so much revenue through those two particular titles, DA and ME.

I am sure the fans are excited, but a little bummed out because the game is grabbing so many people that makes it harder to wait a little more. I, myself, is excited on the amount of investment they are putting into the game and development putting a game together that is supposedly to be seven games combined, in exaggeration. It's going to be HUGE. It is going to be EXTRAORDINARY! Don't be surprised to see them add more features and bring the experience to your hands.

EA is having a slow sale quarter, but they trust BioWare with their development program being top notch, like they did with the console market. I am patient, but humble about the awesomeness of this epic game. Let other MMO makers release their games and "wither away" in the meantime while the "dark horse" of BioWare's MMO unleash fury to all of them with great optimism.

My advice is to save your money for your PC. Do well in school (for you college peeps). Do whatever you need to keep up with the DH team (Since we're just awesome!). Lastly, patience and see them surprise us with the brand new year of events and so on. ;)

It's weird, EA doesn't seem to be pressuring anyone now, especially the cash cows. APB has a rumored, and an UNDENIED rumor, of releasing in March. Yet APB has hardly released any information this year, but then again, Realtime Worlds is a very quiet company. EA seems to be letting them do their own thing, same with LA and BW.

Ironically, there was an APB delay announcment 2 days ago :)

It is indeed a little troubling. EA will be planning to release a few titles within the next periods, but who knows, they may be facing some financial problems. In any event, we all knew that it's still a long way to go, but let's just be confident that they will do a good job with it :)
