Friday Update 2/26: Taris Dispatch and Threat of Peace

Its that time of the week again. Time to see what treats the developers have left for us. First up is a nice Developer Dispatch on Taris:

Once home to a sprawling planet-wide city, Taris was razed long ago by the Sith Lord Darth Malak while seeking to eliminate the Jedi Knight Bastila Shan. Now, a post-apocalyptic Taris is being realized in Star Wars: The Old Republic. After 300 years, Republic and Jedi leaders are moving forward with the efforts at colonization.


Along with the video on Taris is issue #27 of the Threat of Peace.

    Additional news about Threat of Peace

    Sean - "This is the final issue for Threat of Peace. That said, we do have an announcement coming in two week's related to The Old Republic webcomic."

    I wonder what it is, either the start of volume 2 or they're going to make it a full fledged comic.

    I thought I heard somewhere they were binding them all together to sell as a hardcopy graphic novel? Maybe that's it?

    But at any rate... no more web comics means 1 less thing to show as opposed to game info on Fridays :)

    Sean - "Moza is correct. We announced the TPB back in November. This will be an announcement about The Old Republic webcomic, not necessarily the Threat of Peace."

    Now I am thinking it's going to be a name change for the next volume.

    Yep, new series, new title imo. ToP took us from the events of the treaty and shorty thereafter. Next series will take us into the events that will lead back to all out war as we enter the game.(IMO)

    I agree as well, they said a while back that the webcomic will lead right into launch day.

    they already announced that it'll be out in march I think, can't remember the date they said.

    Hmm at the end of Threat of Peace I get this feeling that Act 4 is going to be changing perspectives and introduce the more seedy/underworld type characters.

    maybe so. but i believe smth like Wintergrasp could do. Something that isnt permanent but allows you to feel that your faction has achieved something here.

    or something like opening of AQ gates in WoW could also take place. I hope

    Agreed. Something that can change and is permanent so that everyone can see it and it doesn't divide the community in some way between phases or even content availability.

    we had one, but we have to kill it when the load on wordpress became too hard. We'll look into it though, I know a lot of you guys have been requesting it.

    I also think not having day/night cycles in the video doesnt tell us anything. I believe they didnt bother too much with makingthis video so they just oneshot it in 5 min. Even if they have day/night ready at the moment they wouldnt be bothered to change it in order to make it appear in the vid

    Hope you guys do a dissection of this, would like to see a close up of what appears to be a Sith inquisitor or Warrior on Ohlens screen.
