Writer Joanna Berry brings to light some thoughts behind crafting the Jedi Consular

After reading this blog, a few new people might be interested in playing a Jedi Consular. After you have finished reading this blog, feel free to check out our Afterlife Interview and our Timeline Synopsis if you haven't already.

This may be a bit off topic…however I was wondering if the DH team intends to at some point talk about their plans, expectations, and perhaps what they would ideally hope to see implemented in this game?

I am sure some of these things have already been mentioned at least somewhat during podcasts and whatnot, but I think it would be sort of interesting and along similar lines to these Guild interviews, if you guys did a Darth Hater team interview and talked some about your experience with MMO’s, as well as some of the things I mentioned above. You guys have expressed a lot of your opinions about what is unveiled, as it comes out. I’m just sort of curious to know what your plans are for when the game is actually out?

Will you all be playing on the same server? If so what faction((though I think I already know the answer to that one))? Which server type would you guys prefer to play on? Will you perhaps be starting a guild? If so what sort of guild? Things along these lines and…well anything else you guys would feel the need, or want, to share.

Again I understand much many of these things have probably been at least touched on in comments, or podcasts but it would be sort of nice to have these opinions gathered in one place. If nothing else it would make a good filler article on a slow week in terms of updates.

I think we said in the past that we're definitely Sith Empire for our mains, and I think we all gave our class and play style preferences. Usually we do this in the podcasts or Live Q&As.

There are speculation articles & editorials on what we think we're going to see.

As for our other plans... if I told you, I'd have to kill you. :D

I do admire the fact you guys have your preferences, but tend to keep the opinions out and the news-eske perspective in.

Finally the last class blog is completed. Now, the big ones are coming.

Let's hope we get something really good, I definitely can't wait.

We have already seen a lot with the Smuggler and Bounty Hunter though. More so in my opinion than say the Agent, and considerably more than the Trooper. We have seen gameplay videos featuring both the Smuggler, and the Bounty Hunter respectively. I don't recall any gameplay footage dedicated to the Consular, Inquisitor, Knight, or Agent other than little snippets here and there. There was also very little footage of the Trooper released. So no, I don't really see the trend you mention. It makes sense for them to release this developer blog to try and build up some hype for the Consular IMO, as if I recall correctly((which I admit that I might not)) the numbers of those wishing to play Consulars is pretty low at the moment.

Uncovering forgotten knowledge, moral dilemmas, and the grey areas of light and dark? Sounds like the Consulor is panning out to be the class I hoped it would be! It might even *gasp* make me want to roll one on a RP server! :P

I just couldn't believe how many whiners there were complaining about the update.

What had me most interested was a quote I found in the middle of the article and it says "planning an assault on an enemy base with Republic armies waiting on your unique insights". To me sorta sounds like a glimpse of a quest that multiple classes could be faced with or even a group quest.

I would more go with you finished quests that were re-conning a Sith base and you report your findings to the Republic to organize a assault.

Of all the Developer Blogs, this one impressed me the most.
Apart form the facts that the writer suggests the possible instruction of Padawans as a Master, discovering ancient secrets regarding the Force and the surrounding galaxy and all of the others, the story revolving around this particular class just feels interesting from a few paragraphs.
While the Jedi Knight is viewed as a fighting hero, the Sith Warrior an angry martial arts expert, the Sith Inquisitor a power-hungry villain and so on, the Jedi Consular looks like a teacher or a strong ambassador. With a lightsaber of course :P
"Maybe you’ll be driven by a hunger for the past, to explore new horizons and reclaim long-forgotten lore for the Jedi Order." This is the part that interests me the most and is what i'll be doing with my Consular (after I make my main Knight ofc).
Not the biggest update, but a great one nonetheless.

I can't say I'm really surprised about the training a padawan thing. If I recall correctly one of the two companion characters we have seen for the inquisitor was listed as being the Inq's apprentice. From there it wasn't far fetched to speculate that a similar companion would be available for at least the Consular, if not the Knight and Warrior as well. This dispatch does make me feel a bit more interested in the Consular though. Until now I have felt the least amount of draw towards them, of all of the classes. I still wouldn't roll one to start with I don't think, but this has given me a bit more to consider while trying to decide which alts to roll, and when.

Hey, you guys going to the GDC?

To quote Apocalypse Now!: "Sir, I am unaware of any such activity or operation. Nor would I be disposed to discuss such an operation if it did in fact exist, sir."

If there is a 'Grey Jedi sub-faction' I'll be definitely in it. I like the idea of using dark ways while working for the Light :D . The end justifies the means.
