Friday Update: Peace for the Republic Timeline Video

Today's update is the seventh entry in the Timeline series, entitled "Peace for the Republic?"

The centuries immediately preceding the Great War were thought to be one of the most peaceful eras in Republic history. As he dives deeper into the galaxys history, Master Gnost-Dural discovers new evidence that suggests the dark influence of the Sith Empire was seeping into the Republic even then. Gnost-Durals latest report isolates one historical incident which suggests there was a Sith Lord pulling strings within the ranks of the Jedi decades before the war even began.

BTC 103 - More than a century before the Sacking of Coruscant, two Jedi scholars embarked on a journey which became one of most inexplicable mysteries of its time. Young Jedi Knight Eison Gynt joined his Master in a mission to investigate the Ancient Sith Temple of Yavin 4. On Yavin, the pair was attacked by the native Massassi and driven into the Tomb of Naga Sadow where a powerful force of darkness emerged. Gynts Master returned to Coruscant wounded and half-insane, remorseful that young Eison Gynt had been killed in the chaos. Years later, however, Gynt returned from Yavin on his own and attacked his former Master. Gynt was killed and all assumed that he had been tainted by the darkness on Yavin 4 and returned to Coruscant for revenge. Nonetheless, the truth, as Master Gnost-Dural has discovered, may have been far more sinister.

There are several interesting references to note in this edition of the timeline. The Sith temples of Yavin IV feature predominantly and Naga Sadow is also a key player in this timeline entry. There is also intriguing artwork of the Star Forge in the parting shot.

I'm also intrigued by the mention of the Star Forge, and I think that the emperor may be Revan. Master Gnost-Dural mentioned that the emperor "returned to the known galaxy."

When Revan went to the Unknown Regions at the end of KOTOR, he could have been corrupted (again) and planned to take over the entire known galaxy (again) when he returned.

    Eh, it's possible.

Hmm awesome update. I personally think Yavin IV will be in the game with the tomb as some kind of raid instance. Makes sense as "the emperor knew the spirits of the ancient sith lords could be a threat to his power" and teh Jedi think dat teh Sithz are ghey so both factions have a reason to go in and have fisticuffs with the spirit of Naga Sadow.
Although I do like the speculation that you could go into the tomb for the emperor but decide to side with Mr Sadow, probably for UNLIMITED POWERRRRRRRRRR bzzzzzzzz

Btw, Darth Bane: Rule of Two offers some insights on how one can avoid detection by the Jedi. Darth Zannah had to use it for a specific purpose (won't put any spoilers here of course).

I bet Barel Ovair is an ancestor of Darth Revan, which makes Satele also part of that family line and explains why the Sith are aware of it and place so much importance in it. I can see Satele being the "key" to activate some sort of Sith weapon her infiltrator ancestors created, except the Sith later realize they do not need her, since she now has a son .....

I was excited to see a timeline entry this week. The releases from the past few months indicated this week would be a Fan Friday, instead. Perhaps Bioware is starting to ramp up the updates, instead of giving us "filler" like Fan Fridays or just wanted to change it up.

Looking forward to the future dissection. I will post a few of my observations then.

These timelines keep getting better. I cant want to hear your speculation about what this means for the emperor in TOR!
  • #58 GoHann
It mentions around the last 30 seconds or so of the timeline the following...

"THE EMPEROR KNEW THE SPIRITS OF THE ANCIENT SITH LORDS COULD BE A THREAT TO HIS POWER WHEN HE RETURNED TO THE KNOWN GALAXY A CENTURY LATER"

This I feel is very telling with regards to who the "Emperor" is. I am not one who is extremely caught up on lore and the true SW timeline but I believe it is fair to say that the emperor during ToR is one who has been around this long. IE: Over a 1,000 year's prior to 103 BTC.

    Who could that be then?!

That really isn't new information. The website even has references to the Emperor being over 1300 years old and having participated in the Great Hyperspace War, which took place around 1300 BTC.

"Fifteen hundred years ago, the Sith civilizations boundaries reached the Republic, and the Great Hyperspace War began.

Dark Lord of the Sith Naga Sadow led his armies in an aggressive campaign to destroy the Galactic Republic. Though the Sith were successful at first, the Jedi Order rallied back to defeat their dark counterparts, systematically destroying the Sith civilization on Korriban.

Unbeknownst to the Jedi however, the last Emperor of the Sith (note: the current one) managed to escape the carnage and fled into Deep Space with his most trusted Dark Lords.

These surviving Sith began rebuilding their society on a distant planet, hoping to one-day return for revenge."

r2d2arm; Now that you mention that I do remember reading, thanks for pointing that out.

But who then does that leave?

    A name containing seven letters.
  • #72 LuckyArc
that might start with an "A". Then again, there's a 25/26 chance that it doesn't start with and "A".

Very cool video. Leaves me asking one big question though.

Why does he have to infiltrate the Jedi Order in order to stop Naga Sadow? Couldn't he have done that without taking all that time to infiltrate them?
  • #63 mikeamendola
I think he used his young padawan as a pawn to corrupt and defeat him in front of everybody. He didn't infiltrate the jedi order to kill Naga Sadow. The Sith at this time need all the information they can get to plan there epic attack that we are all familiar with. Just like Emperor Palpatine did in Episode 4. Staging this plan by corrupting his padawan with Naga Sadow while defeating him to look like a hero in the eyes of the jedi order is brilliant.
