Fatal Alliance Cover Revealed, New Vid Doc Tomorrow?

The Star Wars: The Old Republic Fatal Alliance cover image definitely sparked our interest at STARWARS.com:

The site also states the scheduled release date for the Sean Williams novel is July 20, 2010.

In other news, the official SWTOR Twitter hinted we might see a new video documentary in tomorrow's update:

Can anyone remember when exactly it was we posted our last Video Documentary for The Old Republic? #starwars

Although some of us mistakenly thought it was Return to Taris because we think the Developer Dispatches are indeed documentaries, the correct answer is Video Documentary #3 -- released on July 17, 2009.

Is Darth Hater going to treat this novel the same way it does with offical releases? Do you have any plans to disect the contents into a detailed discussion; speculating what could translate from the novel to what we may see in the game?

While I plan on reading the book, I am equally interested in the detailed scrutiny that DH is fast becoming famous for. It would also be a nice addition to the portion of the community that is not planning on reading the book.

Hoping and praying that the concept of the Empire and Republic working together like will be depicted in this book does NOT translate into game play mechanics for TOR. We already have this lame game style with WoW, would almost be a deal breaker if that was in TOR as well.

    Why would that be bad?

I think it's a storytellers dream to be able to weave together circumstances where the staunchest of enemies have reason to collaborate.

And how does that happen in WoW?

Well the Alliance and Horde are ostensibly at war, but for both BC and WotLK they're allying against other guys instead. Sworn enemies don't ally all the damn time. They're barred from actually speaking to each other via language barriers, but they still ally up more often than not. The exception is a few situations in WotLK, which is in the minority of the overall story. It's nice to have people who are actually enemies.

How many times in the movies did the Rebels and Imperials ally to fight a common foe? In the movies never, in the EU still very rarely. Why should the Empire and Republic get all hunky-dory in TOR? I want some Star WARS, not Star Alliances. :)

Even if I'm wrong, I'm technically right.

Video Documentaries are Video Documentaries except when they are Developer Dispatches.

My ass still hurts from the public smackdown in my hasty reply to the question, though it was well deserved. :D
