Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived Details Revealed

New details about the second Star Wars: The Old Republic novel, Deceived, were revealed today on StarWars.com:

Hot on the heels of the unveiling of the cover to Star Wars: The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance is this first look at another hardcover set in the time of the eagerly anticipated video game in development by LucasArts and BioWare.

In Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived, readers will learn more about Darth Malgus, the Sith Lord who brought down the Jedi Temple. Star Wars fans first experienced the devastating might of Darth Malgus in last year's epic cinematic trailer to Star Wars: The Old Republic which depicted the Sacking of Coruscant. Readers will learn more about the man behind the mask in this novel by author Paul S. Kemp.

Deceived tells the story of Darth Malgus and gives fascinating insight into his rise to fame and glory as the Sith Lord who destroyed the Jedi Temple. This stunning narrative finds the dark hero battling a veteran Jedi Master, setting the stage for the affairs and betrayals surrounding the last battle of the Great War before the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant.

Also shown in this announcement was the cover art for the book. Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived is due out in hardcover on December 28, 2010. You can pre-order the novel from Amazon.com.

Update: Sean Dahlberg just announced the update -

You first experienced the devastating might of Darth Malgus on the day that changed the galaxy forever during the Sacking of Coruscant. Now you can learn more about the man behind the mask in the latest novel set in the same time period as Star Wars: The Old Republic!

December 28th 2010. Really keeping an open gap there and going for pre-orders.

I wouldn't be surprised if it gets pushed back, heh.

I really hope that the book doesn't read like fan fiction, where the release of the book being before the game leads to it unable to reference much of what will happen in the game for fear of spoiling it. So while based on the game is pretty much a stand alone piece of work will little to tie it into the game that we are waiting to play.

Unless I've missed previous references, the fact that this guy is named as "Darth" Malgus is pretty interesting as all other sith so far have been referred to as "Lord"

Previously Revan and Malek were the Dark Lords of the Sith using the Darth titles, so is Malgus a descendant of that hierarchy? Perhaps there are still only 2 Dark Lords and if the Emperor is the top of the tree then this guy might be the second most powerful Sith in existence

They have his biography up, he pretty much just a soldier and stays out of the Sith political stuff.

Cover Art is badass. And Paul Kemp is on a roll. Crosscurrent was dope so this should be good.

So since its based on the video game as it says up top wouldnt that be giving some stuff away? I guess Im confused as to why you would release a book based on the video game when the game isnt even out yet. I would think that would ruin some of the story. I am not a fan of reading books but since Im excited for the video game I might end up getting this book an reading it.

The events around the sacking of Coruscant and the Treaty happen before we start playing. We start playing the game around 10 years after the sacking and the Treaty.

Yeah.. and just figured it might not be Sadow's successor at all. Revan and Malak fit just as well
