Friday Update Preview

Today, Sean Dahlberg confirmed that the next issue of Blood of the Empire will be released on Friday, May 7th, as well as a new blog on the 14th.

This week, we're going to be publishing Blood of the Empire #2. We have a few things in store for all of you before we head off to E3 2010 but this week's update will be the webcomic. And check back next week for our latest Developer Blog.

He also made sure people realized the April Fool's joke was a prank and not a game feature as he retired that discussion.

We hope that you have enjoyed the Sarlacc Enforcer class reveal we made on April 1st. We just wanted to confirm that the Sarlacc Enforcer is not going to be a class and that it was just some fun we were having for April Fool's day this year. We've had quite a bit of fun reading all the posts and threads that were created and we sure do hope you've had as much fun as we've had! While you can no longer post in this section, we are going to leave it viewable so that everyone can enjoy the fun and creativity with the Sarlacc Enforcer class!

Stay tuned for any further updates, as well as for the updates tomorrow.

Hmm, appears there will not be a new planet this week then. They are changing up the schedule to build up to E3. I would have preferred more spread out updates such as the biography and inhabitant updates happening on separate weeks instead of giving minimal updates these two weeks.

Anyone follow Sean Dahlberg on Twitter? He tweeted(whatever it is called) something very random yesterday.

    Maybe a hint?

    I'm amused.

Maybe that's what they will roll out at or just before E3? Guess it's a good thing I built a new computer.

Well it's true, they have never called it Beta. Fans used that term. BioWare calls it Game Testing. Too much emphasis on alpha/beta labels in the industry I guess, with the "omg it's in beta, it'll be out in only a few months!". I've even heard that what we the public call the Beta today is actually more like a Delta in actuality, with the beta being done internally under a different name(like the Alpha leaks you see of WoW and such).

Cautiously optimistic here. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it'll interesting stuff. I just don't want to work myself into a frenzy that it's going be awesome and the be disappointed when it's not up to my over inflated expectations.

Although, that's nigh impossible to do where E3 is concerned. I'm positively giddy with anticipation for E3. I got a DVR just so I can record all of G4's coverage.

Ya with E3 just around the corner there really isn't much of a point to make any huge reveals over the next few weeks. As I am sure everyone here will be following TOR @ E3 and whatever information and reveals we get there will keep us talking for some time. It's just a matter of patience really :)

LucasArts President resigns. This is a real shame he was doing a great job of slowly bringing back LucasArts back catalogue in the public eye.

Hope that doesn't mean trouble to TOR.

Well with current games it's all ready set in stone with contracts so nothing bad really can happen. new games and stuff still in contract negotiations would be the ones in trouble.

Highly unlikely as large corporations change Presidents often.

The only real news here is that we aren't get anything else with the webcomic. We new we would get issue #2 this week as they had already confirmed the comic was bi-weekly.

What do you think the blog is going to be on next week? Inhabitants? Combat Video? Strange that they are breaking with their previous schedule. Usually it's dev blog on first Friday of the month and a planet reveal on second Friday.

They're probably trying to build hype right before E3 so that everyone is paying attention come mid-June.

I actually wish Sean didn't make this announcement. I like not knowing what the update is every Friday. It gives me something to look forward to. It's like a mini-Christmas every Friday.

Now, I have nothing to look forward to for 2 weeks. /sigh. C'est la vie.

Although, there will only be 4 updates left between the dev blog and E3. I wonder what they have in store for those updates?
