UK Press Event Round Up

A UK Press event took place during this week revealed quite a bit about the game's classes, trees, and more. Along with the hands on is information about the Advanced Classes, Species, and more. Listed below are links to the various outlets that attended:

Eurogamer: Advanced Classes, Hands on, Video
The Galactic Struggle: Hands on, Interview with Jake Neri
Strategy Informer: Interview with Daniel Erickson
Gamespot: Hands on, Interview with Daniel Erickson
VG247: Interview with Jake Neri
Edge Online: Interview with Daniel Erickson

As a caveat, you might want to read our class speculation article and the chart we made back in December.

Update: New high quality version of the Advanced Classes:

...each Advanced Class will have a further three branches of skills to specialise in (equivalent to World of Warcraft's talent specialisation options on a single class). The first two skill trees are particular to your Advanced Class, while the the third is a shared set of skills which expand on the core abilities of the main class. (Eurogamer)

Note: We will add other articles about the press event as we find them.

Larger image of the SW Advanced Classes with some Photoshop work to make the icons a little clearer:

I wonder that instead of picking 1 icon per go on the tree and moving up or sideways to the next icon, the blue bars on the left are what you increase to get the abilities eg say the far left FIRST SKILL SET you start with nothing (you've just picked the 'Darth Vader' SW class) you put in one level or allocation of the 'blue energy' and you unlock the 3 bottom rung skills? Just an alternative idea of why the bars are there...

That sound a lot like Titan Quest skill trees.

There is a calculator here:http://www.titancalc.com/ (just select one of the "class") to see how it work.

Yeah, yeah I see what you mean! Maybe that's why some icons have yellow borders and others have green or blue ie more points invested in some of them??? Is blue the highest I wonder...

    yellow 1pt --> green 2pts --> blue 3pts ???

Some nice speculation going on with the skills. I'm thinking about sitting down, looking through all the known SW skills, and coming up with my own speculation as well!

Definitely fire your skill thoughts here or to me so I can compare, add or comment on. Good luck! I'm having a look at Force powers on Wiki now ;-)

Additional: made a few more comments to notes on second image...

Well, I wonder if anyone else noticed 30 talent boxes are lite on the picture....I know its far fetched but if you can choose which tree you want to go down at lvl 10 like other mmo's....possibly lvl 40 max?
  • #117 Quaden
Don't forget there is a shared tree that is not shown in the image on this page. We are not sure how many "talent" boxes are present in that tree. Also, I believe in one of the interviews it was said you will not be able to choose all of the boxes in both trees of each specialization.

will i am glade for the ne info , some of the images do leave me a bit more worried that I will have to Dual wield to dps effectivly. alot of those icons under the dps line appere to have crossed sabers. and while you might not have to have those skills they might be nessicary to take them to get to the ones above them. any speculation on that??

you could probably say the jedi knight tree will look similar.

Nothing has said that Juggernauts can't dps effectively single saber :)

I know at DH they like to dissect everything and anything regarding TOR, but did you all catch this in the Gamespot article about the bounty hunter :

"We started out in the palace-cum-cantina home of Nem'ro the Hutt"

Yaaaa Woohoo , thats great we have been fooled all along Bioware is actually making an MMO Star Wars Porno NIICE !!!

No need for morality is this game LOL

By that logic, perhaps those who graduate "cum laude" must have earned some pornographic degree.

    Please. It means "with."

There is a big discussion on SWTOR forums about you being able to change your Advance class from 1 to 2 and vice versa. I hope we get vitrifaction on this as I would like to see that if you choose to be a SM you cannot decide to become a SJ later but rather just respec SM talents!

I believe emlaeh addressed this down below:

Please refer to our original speculation articles for a full explanation, but the short version is yes, we believe they are permanent.
  • #94 RogueJedi86
If we go by the Mass Effect model of Advanced Classes, once you pick an advanced class, it's permanent. Since TOR is already drawing a lot of inspiration from ME(the dialogue wheel), maybe the advanced classes are too.
